Scriptures about passing judgment

Matthew 7:1-5

Chapter Parallel Compare

1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others,
you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 Why
do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the
plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck
out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite,
first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brothers eye.

Luke 6:37-42

Chapter Parallel Compare

37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be
condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A
good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into
your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 39 He also told
them this parable: Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a
pit? 40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be
like their teacher. 41 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye
and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your
brother, Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye, when you yourself fail to see
the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and
then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.

John 8:1-8

Chapter Parallel Compare

1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple
courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach
them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in
adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, Teacher, this
woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to
stone such women. Now what do you say? 6 They were using this question as a
trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to
write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he
straightened up and said to them, Let any one of you who is without sin be the first
to throw a stone at her. 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

Luke 6:31-36

Chapter Parallel Compare

31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 If you love those who love
you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you
do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do
that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is
that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love
your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything
back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High,
because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father
is merciful.

James 4:11-12

Chapter Parallel Compare

11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a
brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you
judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only
one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But youwho are
you to judge your neighbor?

Romans 2:1-3

Chapter Parallel Compare

1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at
whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who
pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that Gods judgment against
those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being,
pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape
Gods judgment?

Romans 14:1-13

Chapter Parallel Compare

1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable
matters. 2 One persons faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is
weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with
contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not
judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge
someone elses servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will
stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. 5 One person considers one day
more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should
be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so
to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and
whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us
lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live
for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong
to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might
be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 You, then, why do you judge your
brother or sister ? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand
before Gods judgment seat. 11 It is written: As surely as I live, says the Lord,
every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God. 12 So then,
each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. 13 Therefore let us stop passing
judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block
or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.

Proverbs 31:9

Chapter Parallel Compare

9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Romans 12:16-18

Chapter Parallel Compare

16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate
with people of low position. Do not be conceited. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil.
Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it
depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

2 Corinthians 5:10

Chapter Parallel Compare

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may
receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

John 3:17

Chapter Parallel Compare

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the
world through him.

Galatians 6:1-6

Chapter Parallel Compare

1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit
should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be
tempted. 2 Carry each others burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of
Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive
themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in
themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one
should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the
word should share all good things with their instructor.

1 Corinthians 6:1-6

Chapter Parallel Compare

1 If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly
for judgment instead of before the Lords people? 2 Or do you not know that the
Lords people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not
competent to judge trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How
much more the things of this life! 4 Therefore, if you have disputes about such
matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the
church? 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise
enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6 But instead, one brother takes
another to courtand this in front of unbelievers!

Leviticus 19:15

Chapter Parallel Compare

15 Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the
great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

Matthew 12:36-37

Chapter Parallel Compare

36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for
every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and
by your words you will be condemned.

Matthew 7:12

Chapter Parallel Compare

12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums
up the Law and the Prophets.

James 3:17

Chapter Parallel Compare

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving,
considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Hebrews 4:12

Chapter Parallel Compare

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it
penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts
and attitudes of the heart.

2 Timothy 3:14-17

14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of,
because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you
have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of
God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

John 12:46-47

46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should
stay in darkness. 47 If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not
judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

John 5:24
24 Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has
eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Ephesians 4:29

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who
listen.
