Happy February!

I hope everyone is doing well this rainy, chilly time of year.

Myself, I look forward to the arrival of spring and gardening
season. I love nurturing little plants, and watching the kids
get so excited to see them grow, practically before their EV ENT S POT L IGHT:
eyes. Violet's favorites are always spring peas... I can hardly
shell them fast enough, they are usually only a minute

With those warm thoughts of spring in mind, I hope that

everyone is thinking about the possibility of running for the
board this spring. There are going to be several openings in
next year's board, and holding a position is both fun and
rewarding. This year's board has been a great group, with
anyone ready and willing to jump in if one of the others
needs a hand with her duties. Please let me, or another
board member know if you are interested in running. You
can find more information, as well as a detailed description
of each position, on the club web page.

I hope to see everyone at the Member Social next week, we

have some fun MOMS Club gear to raffle off, and we're
going to have a great speaker (see details below!) And, as
always, this club is about YOU! If there is something you
would like to see done, or you have ideas for the club,
please let me or a board member know! In the month of November MOMS Club members donated gently used children's
clothes and a sale was held at our monthly member social. Funds raised were used to
partially cover the costs of our December service project. In December MOMS Club

families gathered for a holiday potluck and to assemble care kits for the homeless.
This was a great project for the kids because they were able to do it with little
assistance. Each kit included a pair of warm socks, a rain poncho, several hand
warmers, tissues, lip Vaseline, and some soft snacks. Families got to visit at the
potluck and play at the Boys and Girls Club where the event was hosted.
A big thank you everyone involved for making this event a success. We completed 20
kits, a few of which went home with moms to pass out personally. The rest went to
one of the Eugene warming center locations and were greatly appreciated.

This month we've invited Ryon Wheeler from

Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley to talk with us. BGCEV's
serves youth ages 6-18 and works to "inspire and empower
all young people, especially those who need us most, to

reach their full potential as productive, caring, and
responsible citizens." Current and prospective members and
their children are welcome at all member socials.

NOT our event calendar, so do not add your own events to it as nobody else will

Part of the support we have in MOMS Club of Eugene is helping each other during
times of family additions, upheaval, and stress. This is not just limited to having a
baby, things like moving or illness in the family also warrant a need for this program.
Our Helping Hands program provides moms with assistance, usually giving several
meals in a time of need. However, this program can provide more than just meals.
We can arrange assistance with child-care, running errands, even a phone tree! We
want all of our members to benefit from this program in a time of need and we are
more than willing to customize an assistance schedule that works well for each
situation. Please let us know if a circumstance should arise in your life and you feel
this program would help you! Contact Tia Merwin for more information on this
program.
