value block 12, the status of the microswitch rotary
latch for the rear lid lock is shown in the display
value 1 -A-.
In display value 2 -B- the status of the power
latching system is not displayed as shown. Instead,
you will see the status of the locking pawl
microswitch for the rear lid lock.
The status of the power latching systems for the
luggage compartment is only shown correctly in the
address word 46 control unit J393 measured value
block 13 display value 2 -C-.
C
Display 01 means the power latching system is
retracted (final position: power latching system

Automatically activated rear lid A6 Avant from MY 09

Rear lid unlocked, does not open automatically

(sporadically).
No diagnostic memory entry available.
Technical background:
2) The wrong rear lid lock for manual rear lids was
installed in vehicles with automatically activated rear
lids in production.
In both cases, comfort control unit J605 does not
detect that the rear lid lock is unlocked when the
rotary latch is lightly resting on the striker pin. The
signal from the microswitch for the rotary latch is
imported.
The complaint usually occurs if the rear lid is not
opened for a longer period of time.
(Settling behaviour of rear lid seal).

from the measured value block 12 in the
address word 6D control unit J605 in display
value 1. After unlocking the rear lid, open --
must appear immediately. If the closed is
displayed despite the rear lid being unlocked
-D- and the status changes to open when the
rear lid is raised, the problem is caused by
D the rear lid lock. Replace the rear lid lock.

Action:
2) Please check which rear lid lock is
installed in the vehicle. The part number is
engraved on the metal housing -E-. It is best
to remove the lock to read the number. The
lock with part number 4L0 827 505 must be
installed in vehicles with an automatically
activated lid. If a lock with part number 8K9
827 505 has been installed, replace it with a
new rear lid lock with part

show the status of the microswitch for the
locking pawl). After unlocking the rear lid,
(open) -A- must appear immediately. If the
status is shown as (closed) -B- when the rear
lid is unlocked, there is a problem with the

lid lock.
Note:
The Audi A6 current flow diagram on page
SLP 130/13 is wrong! Change for MY 11
Use the Q7 current flow diagram no. 70/31 as
an aid.
2. Check the switching stages for the locking
pawl microswitch between Pin 3 and Pin 2 on
the rear lid lock. If there is no change during
locking/unlocking, the rear lid lock is the
cause. Replace the lock.

Automatically activated rear lid A6 Avant, Q7

Rear lid does not open fully; remains

approx. 15 cm below its maximum
opening height.
No diagnostic memory entry available.
Technical background:
The customer cannot get the rear lid to open
to its maximum opening height by
programming the button. The maximum
programmable height should also suffice, as
both gas struts should push the lid up for the
remainder of the height (approx. 15 cm) due
to the play in the drive system. The lift power
for the gas struts specified at SOP for
vehicles with automatically activated rear lids
is no longer sufficient to push the rear lid into
its final position (particularly when ambient
temperatures are very cold and the gas struts
lose lift power during their lifecycle).

Power consumption from the power latching system motor

Rear lid opens automatic, does not close
V120 automatically, must be closed by hand
Diagnostic memory entry available.
A Technical background:
The power latching system stops in an
unspecified position. Therefore, the rear lid
0 control unit J605 does not receive the signal
"power latching system protracted" when the
rear lid is open.
Sometimes there is also a diagnostic memory
entry in the address word 6D:
Code 2364 power latching system
8-implausible signal
The rear lid can no longer be closed
electrically due to this missing signal.
It can only be closed by hand.

Technical background:
2) Microswitch F332 -A- for indicating the
status "power latching system protracted"
jams because the actuator is positioned
incorrectly in the microswitch. The control
unit J605 does not receive the signal "power
latching system protracted" when the rear lid
is open. Diagnostic memory entry in the
address word 6D:
Code 2364 power latching system

Automatically activated rear lid A4 Avant, Q5

Customer is unable to change the setting for the

opening height of the automatically activated
rear lid
Diagnostic memory entry available.
Technical background:
EEPROM fault in the master control unit on
the left rear lid drive prevents the opening
height from being programmed via the
buttons on the rear lid trim. The fault is
caused by an internal timeout error, which is
entered in the memory in the event of
increased communication.
Diagnostic memory entry in the address word
6D: SAE code 16347 Control unit
14-faulty
This diagnostic memory entry cannot be
deleted in service. Once this has been
entered, the customer can only alter the
height once.
