B15303-FLUID MECHANICS AND FLUID POWER

TIME: 3HOURS
Max.Marks:100
GROUP A
Marks: 514 = 70
Answer the any four questions:

1 Define Newtonian fluids with examples?

A fluid which follow the Newton`s law of viscosity is called Newtonian fluid.
Examples: water, air, oil etc.
2 Define pressure head?
A vertical height of the liquid corresponding to a particular pressure is known as
pressure head
P=wh,
H=p/w
3 Define the following (i) absolute pressure (ii) gauge pressure?
4 What is manometer? How are they classified?
5 State continuity equation?
6 Define laminar and turbulent flow?
7 Different between ideal and real fluid?
8 Different between surface tension and capillarity?
9 Define the following (i) absolute pressure (ii) gauge pressure?
