This is a love history that took place in Muar, North of Malacca. Puteri
Gunung Ledang, is a very beautiful jin princess who lived on top of
Ledang Hill. She has seven sisters originated from Jawa, or currently
name as Indonesia.
One day, Rundok was late to go back to his own hill. Their act that against
the curse of jins causing the mountain top of Gunung Rundok slanted until
today. Rundok had to stay with Puteri Gunung Ledang. They then were
married.
After their wedding, they went for honeymoon to Pulau Besar at the
Straits of Melaka. While sewing under a coconut tree at the seaside,
Puteri's husband came from behind to shock her. She accidentally stabbed
him at his hand. And surprisingly he died because of the stab of the
sewing pin. Some said he was cursed to die if stabbed by a pin.
Puteri Ledang was so sad and swears to her husband that she would not
marry again. At the same time, Sultan Mahmud of Malacca had just lost
his wife. His Ministers had presented all sorts of beautiful women and
young girls but none had won His Majesty's heart.
Few days later, Bendahara presented the story of Puteri Ledang to His
Majesty. He finally agrees to propose her so that Puteri Ledang could
replace her Queen's place. This story had been recorded as Malaysian
well-known history. There are movies being made too.
To propose Puteri Ledang, Sultan Mahmud had sent Hang Tuah, Sang
Setia and Tun Mamat as the lead. They face a lot of difficulties to reach
the mountain top. Only Tun Mamat able to make it there. At the mountain
top, Tun Mamat was surprised to discover a beautiful garden full of
flowers with birds chirping and flying around it.
An old woman appeared and asks why they are there. After explaining
everything, the old women disappeared and reappeared in a while. She
then request for 7 trays of mosquito's heart, 7 trays of germ's heart, one
barrel of tears, one barrel of young pinang juice, one bowl of His
Majesty's blood and one bowl of blood of His Majesty's son, Raja Ahmad.
She also requested His Majesty to build a silver bridge connecting Melaka
and Gunung Ledang.
