    affectedthejudiciary,administrationandisdelayingthefairfunctioningofthesociety.

    InefficiencyofBureaucracy

    BureaucracyofIndiaisnotsoefficientinmanagementandadministration.Thecapacityofpolicyimplementationof
    ourbureaucracyisverypoorcomparedtootherdevelopingeconomies.Accountabilityandtransparencyarenewto
    thecivilsociety.

    NepotismandPoliticizationinPublicAdministration

    Nepotismisanotherswearwordofourpoliticalaffairsandadministration.Privilegeandunfairadvantagetothe
    familymembers,kithsandkinonpublicresourcesispracticedwidely,sothemasspeoplearedeprived.Inaddition,
    Corruptedandinefficientpolicingincreaseshumanrightsviolation,andfalsecases.

    Improperandnonobservanceoftheruleoflaw:Itissaidthatlawsexistbutareappliedonlyinfavourofprivilege
    peopleorclass.Asaresultjusticessufferanddeniedtothecommonpeoplealthoughthatisanimportantaspectof
    goodgovernance.

    Improperuseofresources

    Decentralisationandfundingtothelocalgovernmentisnotutilizedproperlyandveryoftendivertedtoother
    purposes.So,thetargetgrouparenotcoveredproperlywiththeavailableresources.

    PoorPlanningStrategy

    Improperplanninganduseofresourcesresultinscarcenessinresourceslikeelectricity,waterandfuel.Besides
    these,Insurgency,Naxalismanddiscriminationagainsttheminoritiesandenvironmentaldegradationaroundthis
    countryandproblemsrelatedtolandreformsandtribalwelfarealsoactsashindrancestogoodgovernance.

    Withoutgoodgovernance,thebenefitsofpublicprogramswillnotreachtheirtargetrecipients,especiallythepoor.
    Emphasizingthestrengtheningofgoodgovernanceatthenationallevel,includingthebuildingofeffectiveand
    accountableinstitutionsforpromotinggrowthandsustainablehumandevelopmentwillremovethehindrancesand
    pavewaytogoodgovernance

    MeasuresforgoodgovernancetakenbyIndia

    Sincethebadgovernanceistherootcauseofallevils,withinoursocieties,hencethereisaneedforgood
    governance.MostofthefeatureslinkedwithgoodgovernanceenunciatedbyWorldBankarefoundinthereform
    processinitiatedinIndiaforgoodgovernance.Theseinclude

    Holdingperiodicelections
    Improvingtheconductofelectionsthroughelectoralreforms
    PassingtheRighttoInformationAct,2005tobringinaccountabilityandtransparencyinadministration,
    LaunchingprogrammeslikeCitizensCharter.
    TheLokpalBilltocurbcorruptioninadministrationandtoinvestigateallegationsagainstpublicmen.
