Statement of Purpose:

Muhammad Atiullah Saif 2012-TE-9

I would like to introduce myself. I am Muhammad Atiullah Saif province

Punjab located in Pakistan. My father is a Govt. Contractor. I belong to a
mediocre family. I passed out my matriculation from Govt. high school Jhang
Sadar and F.Sc. from Govt. Post Graduate College Jhang securing 89.35% and
87.26% respectively. Then I got admission in University of Engineering and
Technology, Lahore in Department of Transportation Engineering and
Management.

Geotechnical Engineering is a field that has changed our standards of

construction. In a very short period it has changed the way we have looked
at structures since centuries.. Hence, my desire to do masters in
geotechnical engineering. My interest in geotechnical engineering blossomed
during my university years. Right since the beginning of my undergraduate
study this subject has fascinated me with its power of applications. My
undergraduate studies already focus on the geotechnical aspects of
structures.

My decision to pursue my Postgraduate study in the United States of

America is underscored by my desire to be a part of the Postgraduate
program at your institution. Michigan State University offers the high
standard research for such a vast and rapidly changing field. The research
facilities and the faculty at the university are very excellent.

It is a strong belief in my family that the American education system has the
best to offer in the whole world. American engineers are well known in field
of Transportation Engineering. Also many of my friends are studying in
America. If I can get an opportunity to be a part of that intellectually
stimulating environment, I am sure my talents will be put to optimal use.

Pakistan is a developing country with an high potential in the engineering. To

serve the needs of this developing industry and more important its vast
population, engineering is going to become of utmost importance. Thus
conditions here are very conducive to supplement my aspirations when I
return after completing my graduate studies to serve my nation.

So, I feel that graduate study at your University will be the most logical in
America and major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful
to you if I am given the opportunity to pursue my postgraduate studies with
financial assistance at your institution and am able to justify your

requirements in me. I look forward to satiate my evergreen forte and

passions starting at America.
