Assignment: GROUP 6

Lesson Plan for Students with Learning Disabilities

In your group, create a lesson for a class of 20 students that contains two students who
have IEPs because they have learning disabilities (LD). One student is strong in math
and weak in reading, the other is stronger in reading than in math.

You must complete the following components:

A description of each child with LD that outlines the characteristics that they
demonstrate in class (describe behavior exactly).
A lessonuse the Elementary Education Lesson Plan Template available attached
A rationale that states the reasons that you chose those activities and how they will
accommodate/remediate issues related to the two students learning disabilities.
A well-designed worksheet or handout that will assist all the students in gaining
content knowledgeit needs to match the developmental level of your class and be
accessible for students with learning disabilities.

State or Local Standards: With prompting and support, describe the relationship
between illustrations and the text in which they appear

Lesson Performance Objective/Student Learning Outcomes (SLO): Students will be


able to match pictures with words

Materials: Thanksgiving Day worksheet

Anticipatory Set: Introducing what type of things correlate with Thanksgiving by using
pictures to make a chart to observe is the pictures represent Thanksgiving or not. Have
students count each side to see how many things are Thanksgiving and how many arent
about Thanksgiving.

Instruction:
Introducing concepts that correlate with Thanksgiving
Hand out Thanksgiving Day worksheet
Have students match the Thanksgiving pictures with the text of the picture

Check for Understanding: Walk around while students are working on the worksheet to
make sure they are grasping the concept of matching the pictures with the text and
answer any questions that they might have.

Application/Guided Practice/Independent Practice: Having the students begin to work


on the Thanksgiving worksheet by themselves while making sure to check for
understanding through out the lesson

Closure: Have a discussion about the pictures they matched

Assessment/Evaluation: Ask students why/how these pictures correlate with


Thanksgiving

*Accommodations/Modifications for Students with Learning Disabilities:


For student two, during the anticipatory set the students will count as a group,
along with putting up a finger each time while counting, so they are physically
seeing on their hands how many they are counting.
For student one, have them take their worksheet and sit in front of the board so
they are able to observe the pictures and texts that was gone over, and use those
pictures to fill out their worksheet.
