I will show students 3 different cups and ask them which one they think will hold more water
after the turn and talk students will each get a post-it they will put their name the color of the cup
they choose and stick it two a poster that has the three cups depicted on it
I will give each pair the go ahead to try to fill their cups
I will provide support but I want them to come up with their own strategies to fill the cups and
compare their results.
Before they are given the go head I will ask them to tell me how we should pour water (gently )
and model for them the expectations I have for the activity
Each pair will record what result they got red cup, blue cup, green by coloring on a picture of a
cup I give each table to record their data
we will come together on the rug and talk about our results
Which cup held the most? Which cup held the least?
I anticipate water will spill I am modeling exceptions for handling materials but I am prepared
for this investigation to get messy
i anticipate some students may find it difficult to work together I will select partners I feel work
best together and monitor students i sense may have difficulties more closely
Assessment of Goals:
