John the Bap st saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the
world. He is the one of whom I said, 'A man is coming a er
me who ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.' I
did not know him, but the reason why I came bap zing with
water was that he might be made known to Israel." John
tes ed further, saying, "I saw the Spirit come down like a
dove from heaven and remain upon him. I did not know
him, but the one who sent me to bap ze with water told
me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and
remain, he is the one who will bap ze with the Holy Spirit.'
Now I have seen and tes ed that he is the Son of God."

Primera lectura
Is 49, 3. 5-6
El Seor me dijo: "T eres mi siervo, Israel; en manifestar
mi gloria". Ahora habla el Seor, el que me form desde el
seno materno, para que fuera su servidor, para hacer que
Jacob volviera a l y congregar a Israel en torno suyo tanto
as me honr el Seor y mi Dios fue mi fuerza. Ahora, pues,
dice el Seor: "Es poco que seas mi siervo slo para
restablecer a las tribus de Jacob y reunir a los sobrevivientes
de Israel; te voy a conver r en luz de las naciones, para que
mi salvacin llegue hasta los l mos rincones de la erra".

1 Co 1, 1-3
Yo, Pablo, apstol de Jesucristo por voluntad de Dios, y
Sstenes, mi colaborador, saludamos a la comunidad
cris ana que est en Corinto. A todos ustedes, a quienes
Dios san c en Cristo Jess y que son su pueblo santo, as
como a todos aquellos que en cualquier lugar invocan el
nombre de Cristo Jess, Seor nuestro y Seor de ellos, les
deseo la gracia y la paz de parte de Dios, nuestro Padre, y de
Cristo Jess, el Seor.

Jn 1, 29-34
En aquel empo, vio Juan el Bau sta a Jess, que vena hacia
l, y exclam: "ste es el Cordero de Dios, el que quita el
pecado del mundo. ste es aquel de quien yo he dicho: 'El
que viene despus de m, ene precedencia sobre m,
porque ya exis a antes que yo'. Yo no lo conoca, pero he
venido a bau zar con agua, para que l sea dado a conocer a
Israel". Entonces Juan dio este tes monio: "Vi al Espritu
descender del cielo en forma de paloma y posarse sobre l.
Yo no lo conoca, pero el que me envi a bau zar con agua
me dijo: 'Aquel sobre quien veas que baja y se posa el
Espritu Santo, se es el que ha de bau zar con el Espritu
Santo'. Pues bien, yo lo vi y doy tes monio de que ste es el
Hijo de Dios".
