1. What specific part(s) of the rubric do you think you addressed well? Explain.
The specific part of the rubric that I believe I addressed well was the conclusion. I feel like I
stated his overall point of Dr. Kings point on writing his letter, as well as emphasizing the
importance towards why we, as readers, should analizes his rhetorical focuses and why his
letter is important for people to analyze and think critically about today.
2. What specific part(s) of the rubric do you feel the least confident in? Explain.
The specific part of the rubric that I feel least confident in is on my body paragraphs. I feel like I
had a good start but when it came to explaining how the particular device that I analyze impact
the audience, I feel like I wasnt being super specific.
3. What grade would you give yourself in EFFORT for this essay? Explain.
I would give myself a A- because I made the page count and I feel like I had a good variety of
rhetorical devices that I talked about on this essay. Although I couldve focused a lot more on
my explanation on why it impacted the audience since I feel like that was my weakness.
4. What grade would you give yourself on the essay itself? Explain.
I would give myself a B because I had the material and I believe I structured my essay the way it
was suppose to be but if I am correct on my weekness, than I believe thats why I am grading
myself a B since the big part of this essay was to explain thoroughly why the specific device I
talked about made an impact on the audience.
5. Write about an idea that most impacted, changed, or challenged your thinking from
MLK's Letter from a Birmingham Jail. Specifically, consider the following topics as
possible ideas you can comment on:
The idea of faith and activism really made an impact in my thinking from Dr. Kings letter from a
Birmingham Jail because the strong faith that Dr. King had that one day segregation will be
over, motivated him every day to make a change and never give up on that goal. His activism
brought many people together even today, so his idea of nonviolent direct action said a lot about
him and how ending segregation was very important to him and to others as well. His passion is
what drawed my full attention and made me very interested in his whole letter and what he had
to say.
6. How will you use your understanding of rhetorical appeals to help you develop your
own essay and argument writing? Explain.
I will add them to my writing so if I had to write a persuasive essay, I will use the applicable
rhetorical appeals to help me develop my essay to make it better to understand and overall help
my writing flow.
