Black Salt
Black Salt is a pungent smelling salt.
The smell is due to the Sulphur content.
The coarse Black Salt crystals are brownish
pink or dark violet or Black in colour
The fine powder Black Salt will be actually
light purple or pink in colour.
The colour is due to the Iron content and
Trace minerals.

Insoluble matter 0.07 % w/w
Black Salt Uses
In North Indian Cuisines especially
- Chaats, Chaat masala, Chutneys, Raitas,
Salads, Cut Fruits.
Indian Traditional Medicines
- As laxative, digestive aid, for flatulence and
heartburn, in toothpaste with other ingredients.
Black Salt Process
Black Salt is a processed salt.
Traditionally Black Salt is made from Rock Salt
from the Salt mines in Himalayas or Lake Salts
from Rajasthan
The salt, herbal ingredients and charcoal are filled
and sealed in a ceramic jar. They are fired for 24
hours.
The fired salt is allowed to cool, stored and aged
before sales.
The composition of Black salt depends on the
source Rock salt or Lake salt.
Black Salt Process
Synthetic Process:
Sodium Chloride salt of any origin is mixed with
small quantities of sulphates of Sodium and Iron
and charcoal; fired in a furnace for 24 hours to
produce Black Salt.
The Black Salt manufacturing units are
concentrated in Haryana.
