Project Proposal

A. Abstract: It Could Happen to You is the title of my project. My overarching topic is

sex trafficking, but my main focus will be expanding services for survivors and punishments for

the perpetrators. I have chosen this topic because it is very close to my heart. Each day countless

young girls and women are forced and sold into sex trafficking. I want those survivors to receive

all the help they can get and punish those who committed such harmful acts. My consultant will

be Ms. Miekina, and she has agreed to help me as much as she can through this process. I am

going to be holding a fundraiser at the Adventure Park. I have already met with the manager,

Tina Knight, and discussed if I was able to hold the function there and she is all on board for me

hosting it there. We talked about how I will be collecting the money up front and informing

everyone that signs up that there will be no refunds. I will also be getting a waiver signed by

everyone that wants to climb in advanced. We also talked about how we can set aside four

different courses that everyone can climb, each one having big poster boards along the courses so

everyone can get informed while they climb. Each course will also have a different theme about

sex trafficking. After everyone is done with the climb they will fill out a survey stating whether

or not they enjoyed the activity and if they learned anything they didn't already know. Mrs.
Knight is willing to give me 10 dollars out of the 40 dollars that everyone pays for their ticket. I

intend to give all the money to the A21 campaign, an organization dedicated to ending human

trafficking. The amount of money I end up with will determine whether or not my project was a

success. My family personally knows the women, Christine Cane, in charge of A21 so I look

forward to seeing what she thinks of my project.

C. Marking Plan/Facilities/Audience:

My target audience would be anyone who is eager to learn more about sex trafficking and

how they can help. People should take an interest in my fundraiser because it will show them

how serious sex trafficking has gotten and what we can do to make a difference. People that

come to my fundraiser will not only get informed about the manner, but their money that they
donate will go to an organization that specifically helps women who have been rescued from

trafficking.

F. Project Justification:

Ever since I was a freshman, I have always done all my papers I could on sex trafficking

because every year when my english teacher would ask me what do you think the biggest issue

is, sex trafficking would always come first to mind. Over the years of researching this topic, I

have learned a lot about it and the saddest thing for me that I learned is that sex trafficking is

worst in Greece. I am greek, and it is a big part of life so to hear that it just constantly gets worse

and worse in Greece every year it hurts me and my family. So the reason I truly want to do this is

to see sex trafficking get eliminated in my lifetime. I believe the A21 campaign is an amazing

organization that helps hundreds of women every day, and that's why I want all the proceeds

from my fundraiser to go straight to them. I understand a lot people do this topic and it can get

exhausting hearing it year after year, but I believe if people continue to do this topic year after

year then hopefully one of us will make a true difference.

G. Project-Paper Connection:

My main focus will be expanding services for survivors and punishments for the

perpetrators. Then I will be holding a fundraiser at the Adventure Park and anyone that would

like to participate in an exhilarating climb and learn more about sex trafficking is welcome to

come. All the money I get back from the fundraiser will go straight to the A21 campaign. It

stands for abolishing injustice in the 21st century and this organization is determined to end

human trafficking. By me donating all the money I make from my fundraiser it will hopefully

help them pay for more things they need in order to help the women they rescue.

H. Academic Honesty:
 For me, academic honesty means that you are true to your own work and it should stay

that way. You would not want anyone taking your own work and using it as there's so why do the

same. I understand that any academic dishonesty by me on any part of the project will result in

failure of the Senior Project and forfeiture of the Legal Studies Seal on my High School diploma.
