The fabric of our past is torn away by sacrificing that fabric for things less
important in the world.
1. We trade time in the word or prayer for time watching TV
2. We trade time with our family on Sunday for time napping for ourselves
3. We trade time time outside being active with those we love for time on our phones
4. We trade time at church for time at a fantasy football meeting
5. We trade time listening to good music for games or secular fun.
Matthew 5:38-48
Retaliation
38
You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. 39 But I say to you, Do
not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other
also. 40 And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic,[h] let him have your cloak as well. 41 And if
anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.42 Give to the one who begs from you, and do
not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
Love Your Enemies
43
You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. 44 But I say to
you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your
Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the
just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even
the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than
others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly
Father is perfect.
By connecting to other members of the body of Christ we become more Christ like...everyone has
different things that add to the body of Christ. No matter who you are you have a purpose and were
created special and specifically by God.
To someone you are Bill Gates and have more money than they could ever dream of.
Perception is reality and most of us have know idea how much we really have.
If you want to know where your heart is and what is important to you, look at the debits on your bank
statement.
Matthew 6:19-24
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
19
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[e] destroy and where
thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also. 22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full

of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is
darkness, how great is the darkness!

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be
devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.[f]
Matthew 6:25-34
Do Not Be Anxious
25
Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor
about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than
clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your
heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27 And which of you by being
anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?[g] 28 And why are you anxious about clothing?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon
in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which
today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little
faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What
shall we wear? 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that
you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will
be added to you.
34
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the
day is its own trouble.
fun?
How much of the word of God do u put in?
The one you put in your head more is the one that will win the war of your soul. There is know way you
can spend the majority of your time in things of the world and expect to be of God. It would be like
expecting to be great at sports and never practicing or great in business and never going to work.
1 Timothy 6:6
False Teachers and True Contentment
Teach and urge these things. 3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the
sound[b] words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up
with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels
about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction among
people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of
gain. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and[c] we
cannot take anything out of the world.8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be
content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and
harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all
kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced
themselves with many pangs.
The people or fellowship we are around is usually what we become. Our body starts to mimicking one
another for better or worse.
Examples are what we hope we portray and become Love and non judgment
For others it might be dressing up, having outreach in the community, etc.

If I had my life to live over, I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in
the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the
day.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing
inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."
There would have been more "I love you's".. More "I'm sorrys" ...
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute... look at it and really see it ... live it...and never give it back.
