A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 3

I. OBJECTIVES

At the of 45-minute lesson, the pupils should be able to:

a. Identify the things based on what they have heard.


b. Tell whether if the sound of the things is load or soft sounds.
c. Share some ways on how to take care our ears.
d. Participate actively in the class discussion.

Topic: Science of Hearing (Loud and Soft sounds)

Reference: Science and Health 3 pp. 50-53

Materials:

Pictures (Bird, ambulance, car, train, drop of water)


Flash Cards
Chart (pocket chart, T-chart)
Audio sounds (birds, boys shout, drums, trumpet, fireworks, girl whispers, cymbals)
Computer/ Laptop
Speaker
Flannel board

D. MOTIVATION
Children, I want you to close your eyes, and tell me the
things that you have heard.

Children, what are the things that you have heard as you Teacher, Ive heard engine vehicles, Children talking and
closed your eyes? chirping birds.

E. PRESENTING OF THE TOPIC

What part of your body dis you use to determine the Teacher, we use our ears to determine the things around
things around us? us.

Very Good! We use our ears in determining things around


us. By hearing their sounds, we could be able to
determine what things is that.

F. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON

Did you know that there are two classification of the


sounds around us?

These are the Loud sound and the Soft sound.


When we say Loud sound and the Soft sounds

When we say Loud sounds, these are the sounds that is


not pleasant or good to hear. It may damage our ears.
While soft sounds, these are the sounds that are pleasant
or good to hear.

Is that clear children? Yes teacher!

If that so, I want you to name this thing and tell me


whether if its loud or soft sound.

(PLAY AUDIO)

[Birds Chirp] Teacher, that is a birds chirp.

Is it a loud or soft sound? The birds chirp is a soft sound.

[Boys Shout] Teacher, that is a boy shouting.

Is it a loud or soft sound? It is loud teacher!

[Mothers lullaby] Teacher, a mother singing to her baby

Is it a loud or soft sound? It is soft sound teacher

Very Good! It seems that youre really good in hearing.

G. GENERALIZATION

What part of our body did we use to hear the sounds


around us? We use our ears to hear the sounds around us. And also
we could also determine the things around us.
We also learned about the two classification of sounds.
What are they? The loud sounds and the soft sounds.

H. APPLICATION

Okay children! Do you want to play a game? Yes teacher!

I want you to look under your chairs and get the thing
under it. (children will look under their chairs)

I will play a music. And I want you to determine what


thing is that. And to the one who is holding that picture
will come in front and tell if the sound of the things if it is
loud or soft sound, then paste it under the corresponding
column.

Is that clear class? Yes teacher!

(PLAY AUDIO)

Birds Chip

Teacher, that is a bird chirping.


The sound of the bird is tweet! Tweet!
And it is soft sound. (paste is under the SOFT SOUND)
Cars horn

Teacher, that is a trucks horn.


The sounds of the trucks horn is Beep! Beep!
And it is load sound. (paste it under the LOUD SOUNDS)

Ambulance siren

Teacher, that is an ambulance siren.


The sound of the ambulance is weeew! Weeew! And it is
loud sound. (paste it under the LOUD SOUNDS)

A Train

Teacher, that is a train. Teacher the sound of the train is


Chuuuuuug! Chuuuuug!
And it is a load sound. (paste it on the LOUD COLUMN)

Drop of Water

Teacher, that is a drop of water.


And the sounds of it is plok! Plok!
And it is a Soft Sounds. (paste it on the SOFT COLUMN)

Children, I want 4 volunteers to come in front. (4 volunteers will come in front)

Here is the situation:


The pair no. I will speak softly to the ears of each other. (the pupils will act what the teacher say)
And the pair no. 2 will speak loudly to each other.

Which do you think is the appropriate way of caring our Teacher, the appropriate way of caring our ears is
ears? speaking softly to each other, like what pair no. 1 did.
