Dear Parents,

The Grade 3 and 4s are working on a very fun Angry Birds project! In Grade 3 the
students are learning about building structures. In Grade 4 the students learn about gears,
levers, and catapults. We have combined these ideas to make a life size angry birds game! The
classes did this last year and it was so much fun we wanted to try it again this year. What will
happen is the Grade 3s will design structures to hold shoe boxes and pigs and friends (like you
see in the game), the grade 4s will build catapults and slingshots that they will shoot the birds
(dodgeballs) from. We will play and try the life size game out in the gym at school.
In order for this project to be successful we need some help from the parents.

1) We need donations of scrap pieces of wood. Two by fours, four by fours, or if you
want to donate a few dollars the teachers can make a run to home depot before we build.
2) We need some parent volunteers to help us build! The students will be designing the
structures and catapults, but need feedback on how to make them successful and we need
adults to run the power tools!

Building Day for the Gr 3s- Thursday March 2nd

You dont just have to show up for your childs class, feel free to volunteer for both classes
building days!

screwdrivers and hand saws (with adult supervision).
