Stage 2 - Evidence
Evaluative Criteria Assessment Evidence
CURRICULUM EMBEDDED PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT (PERFORMANCE
TASKS)
Students will develop an experiment to answer a scientific question related to
the thermal properties of different dunkin donuts coffee cups. Students will
describe the independent variable, constants, and dependent variables, create
a detailed procedure and materials list, make data tables, graph their data,
answer analysis questions, and apply their data to respond in writing to a
prompt (choice of 3 different prompts).
Students will use the engineering design process to analyze areas of a model
house where heat is transferring outside of the house. They will then research,
plan, design, and test insulating materials to determine if they were able to
better reduce heat transfer in their house. There will be a budget component
and follow up analysis for this project.
Students will develop an experiment to prove that the force of magnetism works
without physically touching objects. Students will also explore the relationship
between distance between objects and the strength of the magnetic force.
OTHER EVIDENCE:
Quiz on thermal energy transfers
Quiz on energy transformations
Lab Activities (Examples below)
Relationship between potential energy, kinetic energy, speed
heat transfer
static electricity- Lightning
Homework on potential energy, kinetic energy, work calculations
Tesla Master of Lighting Film
Test on Electricity and Magnetism units.

Stage 3 has not been updated yet.
