GENERAL COMMENTS

1. For braces (or other type of structure): erection clearance its minimum, its not necessary to
maintain exactly , it may be more. See example attached.
2. Edge distance same as erection clearance its not necessary to keep it exactly 1 or 1 . Rather
have overall size of the beam/plate to be rounded up to the larger fraction.
3. Same pieces must have same piece mark. It absolutely unacceptable to have piece marked as its shown
(for example) on drawing 163 (beams 163B1 & 163B4).
4. Combine similar pieces if possible (same pieces with difference only in length, left/right pieces, est.).
Example: on drawing 118 pieces pb118, pe118 & pg118 should be combined in one picture with groups
of dimensions. Same for aa118, ab118 & ac118.
5. Do not use attributes for title blocks or revision blocks.
6. Do not use polyline for gussets, or stiffener plates.
7. Use centerline type of line only for the c/line of beam/column. For all other lines use continues lines.
8. Always shear comments with each other (on daily or weekly bases).
9. Some of the shop drawings look empty. Fabricator wouldnt appreciate it.
10. Choose scale wisely: on some of the drawings important parts were shown in smaller scale then what
was not important.
11. Avoid using small fractions where possible. Try to round up cut length to larger fractions.
12. Use common sense. Example: on drawing 118 piece pb118 has 13/16 corner clipped, pe118 has and
pg118 has 7/8. It would be more friendly for the shop if you would have all of these clips 7/8.
13. Try to keep details uniformed. Use same gages, setbacks as much as possible. Example: drawing 100
sections A & B. If you would make 5 gage distance on A (instead of 4) it will make beams framed
into 100B1 & 100B3 all the same. Shop friendly drawings are very appreciated by the fabricators.
14. Drafting errors arent acceptable. Make sure to show properly projection views, hidden items, est.
