Literature opens your mind

Literature enables people to see through the lenses of others, and sometimes
even inanimate objects; therefore, it becomes a looking glass into the world as
others view it. It is a journey that is inscribed in pages, and powered by the
imagination of the reader. Ultimately, literature has provided a gateway to teach
the reader about life experiences from even the saddest stories to the most joyful
ones that will touch their hearts.

Perspective: Alternate thoughts and ideas about things known to us.

But the reason for which I read literature is very different from all these, I read it
to learn about the various incidents which happen/happened in places all around
the world, at all points of time. It tells you a lot about the times in which the writer
lived, his surroundings, the ambitions of the people in those times and everything
else.
 Appreciation for life and the things in it. Reading is one of the few things that
really connect you with your soul. You understand yourself, and in the course of
time, others, much better than you used to previously.
Great vocabulary. A good literature means correct grammar and a storehouse of
words you are yet to come across. And we all know how impressive a beautiful
knowledge of vocabulary is.

we absolutely need literature in our lives. Every book read is like another life
