Reading Math

Writers Workshop Social Studies

In Writers Workshop, first graders finished their
nonfiction teaching books. They worked so hard
adding important details and features to their
stories, including a table of contents, introductions
and conclusions, and comparisons. Amazing work
first graders! Next week, we will be kicking off a new
writing unit about writing reviews. First graders will
learn how to persuade with their writing. A letter
was sent home with first graders asking them to
bring in a collection of items on Tuesday to use for
their first persuasive writing piece in the unit.
First graders learned more about communities this
week. We discovered how communities include
important places like a police station, post office,
hospital, etc., but they also include homes where
people live! All classes have worked on drawing
pictures of their houses/apartments/condos to add
to a First Grade Community in the hallway.
