4th grade Math Teacher
Teach three sections of math workshop to the whole grade (92 students) with co-teacher (whole
group and small group interventions) and a 90 minute math intervention block with a focus on
closing content gaps using a combination of spiral review, math routines, number talks and
technology
Homeroom teacher during the morning and afternoon. This time is used for morning meeting and
creating a culture of reading and books with book shopping from my classroom library, book talks
and book raffles
Led whole school professional development sessions on building an effective classroom library and
developing a love of reading in all students
Results:
As of January, students have made 20+ points YOY growth on their two Network created internal
assessments (22 points on IA 1 and 23 points on IA 2)

Modified and wrote much of the curriculum (including an added morning math component) from
scratch to meet our particular team/student needs

100% of students passed the 2015 NYS Common Core Math Exam (25/27 receiving 4s), 85% of
students passed the 2015 NYS Common Core ELA Exam

Recent Conferences Attended

Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute Full grant received July 2016

Institute in American History and Content Area Literacy in partnership with Teachers College Reading and
Writing Project. Weeklong, 51 hour course learning about American history on location while working with
colleagues to explore best practices in literacy and history integration.

NERD Camp Michigan July 2015

Two-day literacy conference with traditional speakers and sessions as well as an Ed-Camp portion with breakout
groups to discuss current best practices in education. I was fortunate to attend sessions led by Donalyn Miller
(The Book Whisperer and Reading in the Wild), John Schumacher (Scholastic), Pernille Ripp (author of Passionate
Learners and Passionate Readers), Jenni and Matt Holm (authors of the Babymouse series, The Fourteenth
Goldfish and Our Only May Amelia), and others.
