The ABB Series R single break, insulator Terminals

operated disconnector has been designed
for both rural distribution and substation
type disconnector applications and
complying with Australian Standard AS1306
(1985) and IEC 129.
Features
Simple robust design with minimum
moving parts.
Elimination of pantograph joints.
Reduced interphase clearance.
Minimal maintenance to current
carrying parts
High through fault rating.
Minimum operating effort.
Suitable for wood or concrete pole
or steel structure mounting.
Insulators
The disconnector is fitted with single piece
non-puncturable porcelain insulators
coloured munsell grey.
Current Carrying Assembly
Termination arrangements comply with the
requirements of AS2395-1980
Mounting
The Vertibreak disconnector is suitable for horizontal
pole top mounting as well as horizontal or vertical
mounting in a mid-pole situation. The 12kV/24k V
disconnector is designed to be mounted on a single
steel angle across phase bearer. Either horizontal or
vertical mounting can be effected using the same pole
bracket and fittings.
For 36kV applications double across phase bearers
can be used.
The Vertibreak range is readily adaptable for
substation structure mounting.
Operating Equipment
Standard operating equipment options include:
50mm x 50mm fibre glass operating downrods.
Hinged intermediate supports with
fibre glass/pipe or pipe/pipe clevis
connections.

Current carrying parts are manufactured

from HD HC copper with up to 2000 amp
continuous rating. Moving contacts have
lead in feature and straight parallel sides to
ensure low effort operation, reduce plating
wear and ensure contact alignment during
closing operation. The hinge end is
designed with seperate contacts so that the
current path is not through the joint, and to
provide blade alignment during the closing
operation.
