Summer Faith Formation: Join us this summer as we
explore our Catholic Faith. During the next several weeks
we will be exploring the Catholic Catechism. Tuesday
evenings at 7:15 PM in the rectory. We will be meeting on
July 12 and 28, August 9,18 and 23.
Soup Kitchen Ministry - On Sunday, June 20th, we
served 150 meals at Mother Teresa's. Many thanks to all
who participated. Our next date is Saturday, July 17th
at Eva's, and we are serving hot dogs, baked beans and
iced tea. If interested, please call Mary Flanigan at

TRICKY TRAY NEWS - Our annual Tricky Tray will take
place once again this year on Oct. 22, 2010 in OLQP
auditorium. The doors will open at 6:00 pm. Drawings will
begin at 7:30 pm. MARK YOU CALENDARS! The
committee is looking for baskets and new items for
donation. Please bring the donated items to the
rectory. Thank you for your support in making this fund

STEWARDSHIP: Back to Basics of Time, Talent and
Treasure: If stewardship means taking care of, and
sharing, all God’s gifts, then stewardship of talent means
nurturing, developing, and using the God-given abilities
and characteristics that help to define “who we are” as
individual human persons. Most of us know what it means
to contribute money or to give away our precious time, but
what does it mean to be a good steward of talent? Our
talents are the special blessings that each of us has
received from a loving Creator who prizes the diversity and
abundant variety of all creation. (To be continued next week)
“But because he wished to justify himself he said to Jesus, ‘And who is
my neighbor?’” Luke 10:29
Jesus answered this question by telling the story of the Good Samaritan.
His answer was: “the one who showed compassion.” The definition of
compassion is one who feels with another. A steward makes every effort
to feel what one in need is feeling.

Dear Parish Family,
Recently the Archdiocese selected our parish to be
the focus parish in the 2011 Archdiocesan Annual Appeal
(AAA) Bergen County video.
I asked Ken De Paola of the Archdiocese how Our
Lady Queen of Peace was chosen, and he said that our
parish has done consistently well in fulfilling our
Archdiocesan commitments. He added that over the last
several years our parish has done well with the AAA and
in keeping up to date with our Archdiocesan
assessments.
This is truly an honor and recognition of the
generosity of you, the parish family of OLQP.
I thank you for your Stewardship of Time, Talent, and
Treasure, and for all that you do for our parish.

weekly column will resume in September.
PAVING THE WAY -SUPER 50/50 - Our Summer
raffle is underway. If you have not bought your tickets
yet, you can buy them after Mass or pick some up at the
Rectory office. To date we have sold 1,084 tickets, and
the prize money is up to $4,540.00. Be sure to send in
your returns right away to get into the drawings. The
three prizes will be 25%, 15%, and 10% of the total amount
brought in (the total in so far is $7,540). The drawings will
take place in our auditorium on August 15th (at around 2
PM) after our Rosary procession.
The proceeds will go into our parking lot fund. The
cost of our new parking lot is $104,000, and so far, we
have $32,140.63 toward it.
If you prefer not to enter our drawings by buying
tickets, donations to the parking lot fund will be gladly
accepted and deeply appreciated.
HELP! Sometimes we feel like our
lives are at risk as we walk through the parking lot.
Please slow down as you enter our premises and as
you drive to your favorite parking space. Thank you!

60TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS
Mark This Year's Calendar - November 7, 2010
Our 60th Anniversary Gala will begin with Mass at 3 pm
celebrated by Bishop John Flesey, D.D.. Mass will be
followed by a reception from 5 - 9 pm at the Hasbrouck
Heights Hilton. Good food, fun, fellowship, and great
dancing with a fabulous live band.
Ticket orders for the dinner/dance are due by September
15th. There are only 250 tickets available, so be sure to
get your order in soon.
The order forms for the tickets are available in the church
vestibule, in the Rectory office, and can be downloaded
from our website.

The Gala Committee is looking for prizes. If you would like
to donate something such as Hotel or condo stays,
vacations or trips, spa treatments, sporting event tickets,
theater or concert tickets, jewelry (we have a man's watch),

 MEMORIALS - Parishioners are now invited to memorialize
a candle burning in front of the Blessed Mother and the
candle over the Tabernacle in memory of a loved one. These

RESPECT LIFE UPDATE - Marie Tasy, director of NJ Right to
Life has announced that Bill S2139 has been introduced and
sponsored by Sen. Joseph Vitale and Sen. Loretta Weinberg.
Briefly, they are trying to restore the $7.5 million dollars (YOUR
TAX DOLLARS) to Planned Parenthood. This organization
makes money off of every abortion they perform! Gov. Christie
had cut this money from the budget but they are using other
office and urge him to stand firm on his pro-life beliefs and not
waver on this life issue. Gov. # (609-777-2500)
Since the 40 Days for Life program began in 2007, it has grown
into a nationwide and international organization. We have been
informed that over 2,800 babies have been saved from abortion
through women seeing the prayerful activity outside the abortion
centers. In addition, 38 abortion workers have experienced
conversions and left the abortion industry and joined our ranks.
