Cultural Catastrophe Part 11

Pastor Kerry Wilson

Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• Anthropologist have been trying for decades to come to a
unified field of knowledge in the study of man. Our culture
has been defined by science or a set of rational beliefs
based on knowledge gained through the five senses
deriving at an objective truth from material evidence.
I believe it is impossible to define man without God. He is
the Creator and we are all inseparably linked to Him. What
postmodernist have come to realize is that in any culture it
is those in power that set the tone for our culture. They
integrate their political idealisms as universal truth and
bring a mandate on the less powerful. We can’t buy into
this world set of standards based on those in power but
embrace the words of Jesus when He said,
“ All power is given to me, in heaven and in the earth.”
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• One of my favorite movies is Trading Places, the
scientific study of two old millionaires that a man
will rise or fall based on his environment.
However this has said that “nurture” is the key to
all humanity instead of realizing that “nature” is
the issue. We must realize that man regardless of
class, color or environment can have his heart
changed and become born-again, this man will
embrace the culture of heaven in spite of his
race, education or wealth. Why? Because his
nature has been changed by the seed of God.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• During the past few weeks we have been
ministering on how that culture has affected
the church. We are not speaking so much of
trends as they relate to dress, certain
vernacular or cultural commodities. We are
speaking in a much deeper realm. We are
speaking about the worldview of man as he
sees the eternal plan of God unfold in this
generation.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• We are speaking of spirits that deceive and imitate the
spirit of God. If you are not in a biblical position
concerning your life in God, you open up the door for
these evil spirits to trouble you and which will
eventually destroy you.
• In the spiritual realm these are not easily identified,
our world is becoming increasingly aware of the
supernatural. They are seeking hope and help for their
lives and their future. The majority want it in the
“now”. Never in the history of man has humanity been
more open to that which we can’t see, but know exists.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• This is the basis of this series, to identify the fact
that we are here now in reality, but that another
reality exist which represents eternity. We are
living this exchanged life for eternity. This is the
opportunity of the church, to refuse the leaven of
this system in waiting for the redemption of the
body. This power that has been given to us
enables us to be over comers, and not just us but
to all those who will believe. We are at the
crossroads of the coming of Jesus, don’t look
back, take just what you need, and Look unto
Jesus.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• 17 So Samuel said, “When you were little in your own eyes, were you not
head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the LORD anoint you king over
Israel? 18 Now the LORD sent you on a mission, and said, ‘Go, and utterly
destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are
consumed.’ 19 Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD? Why did
you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the LORD?”

20And Saul said to Samuel, “But I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and
gone on the mission on which the LORD sent me, and brought back Agag
king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. 21 But the people
took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should
have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the LORD your God in Gilgal.”
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• 22 So Samuel said:
“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt
offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams. 23 For
rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the
LORD,
He also has rejected you from being king.”
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• We are at the stubbornness stage of Saul’s life,
he has now elevated his sacrifice above God’s
word.
• When a person elevates their sacrifice over
the Word of God, then they open their life up
to attack from the enemy.
• In our generation this would be seen as
opening up the realm of the “soul”, or what is
considered your mind, will and emotions.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11

• 1 Samuel 16:14But
the Spirit of the LORD departed
from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD
troubled him.
• Bitterness and Resentment now characterize Saul
• How does a person know when the spirit of the
Lord departs and then what are the
consequences of that condition?
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• No willingness to change but gratified by
church life and being around the presence of
God…..
• 1 Samuel 16:23 (King James Version)
• 23And it came to pass, when the evil spirit
from God was upon Saul, that David took an
harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was
refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit
departed from him.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• 1 Samuel 18:10-12 (King James Version)
• 10And it came to pass on the morrow, that the
evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he
prophesied in the midst of the house: and David
played with his hand, as at other times: and there
was a javelin in Saul's hand.
• 11And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will
smite David even to the wall with it. And David
avoided out of his presence twice.
• 12And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD
was with him, and was departed from Saul.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• The Spirit of Destruction permeates from the bitterness and
resentment……
• You see in order to live within ourselves our culture has inundated
the church with a sociological release valve, that is “instead of
repenting”, we turn to blaming someone for our circumstances and
behavior
• 1 Samuel 18
• 25And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any
dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of
the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand
of the Philistines.
• 1 Samuel 19
• 1And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that
they should kill David.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• I have never in my tenure as a Pastor and as a
believer seen the vindictive, destructive and self-
serving evil in the lives of people. The extent that they
will go to is past my understanding. We are talking
about the attitudes, actions of those who are supposed
to love Jesus. We are truly the only culture in the world
that kills our wounded and rejoice at demise, some act
as if we want people to go to Hell and be lost.
• We have lost touch with our cultural heritage as it is
portrayed in the New Testament and more tragic, we
have lost touch with the King of this kingdom.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• Obsession but no Passion
• 1 Samuel 24:16-20 (King James Version)
• 16And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking
these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son
David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
• 17And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou
hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.
• 18And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with
me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine
hand, thou killedst me not.
• 19For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away?
wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto
me this day.
• 20And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and
that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• No passion brings no presence, this will result in a
manufacturing or a likeness of the presence of
God. You will start seeking feelings and emotions
that simulate the presence of God, hence
witchcraft. The enemy will create environments
and feelings that seem spiritual.
• Witchcraft opens one up to the demonic realm.
The goal is to control circumstances, situations
and people. The awareness ranges from being
ignorant of the reality to a participation.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• 1 Samuel 28:6-8 (King James Version)
• 6And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered
him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
• 7Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that
hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of
her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman
that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
• 8And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and
he went, and two men with him, and they came to the
woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by
the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name
unto thee
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• We ask does “witchcraft” operate inside the church ?
The answer is yes. It operates inside of the realm of the
reasoning, feelings, and emotions of people. Because
of the susceptibility of our generation to the
supernatural people are hungry for anything that
resembles God or the unknown. God is changing the
church by measure, our lack of power is due to the
origin of our actions. The soul doesn’t have the power
to truly impact lives, it can only imitate the true power
of God. It can create emotions, and even direct our will
by that emotion but can never give what we need to
transform the church.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• This hasn’t happened overnight, it has been bred
into generations of believers by the devil.
• We have tried almost everything to make it easier
for people to serve God. From user friendly to
non confrontational methods. We have changed
times, liturgy and promoted a feel good
mentality. We are promising wealth, freedom,
and power carelessly and without any
commitment involved, I tell you it has been a
recipe for disaster.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• When the devil can’t get a generation to blatantly
disobey, he will try and breed it into them.
• Revelation 2:14 (King James Version)
• 14But I have a few things against thee, because
thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of
Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a
stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to
eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit
fornication.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest,
lest anyone fall according to the same example of
disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and
powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His
sight, but all things are naked and open to the
eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• God has set up a safe guard against this
cultural catastrophe of “sacrifice” instead of
“obedience”. He has said that regardless of
how “you” feel or what your emotions
indicate, it must align with the Word of God.
• If you fall into disobedience, don’t become
stubborn, but submit and repent. If you fail to
do so you will open yourself up to “another
doctrine” which is not His doctrine.

Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• Saul was killed by a young Amalekite in the
historical account of 2 Samuel. That which he
refused to obey in eventually cost him his life.

• Many are hearing voices, seeing things and

feeling things but if our obedience isn’t primary
they are illusions of what we once knew and felt .
Obedience will always be better than sacrifice,
and serving God does COST SOMETHING
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• I believe this is a major part of what the Word calls the
“mystery of iniquity”, it is the confusion of disobedience to
the Word of God inside the church combined with “another
gospel”. It is not easily understood, the catastrophe lay in
the fact that prophetically the dye has been cast.
• 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working
of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,
• 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who
perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth,
that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will
send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,
12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the
truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11

• 28And even as they did not like to retain God

in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are
not convenient.
• We are not talking about someone or an idea
that has “evil” written across the forehead it is
in the church and spiritual realm that this
deception is coming and is now here.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• The cure and the explanation for this spiritual
can be explained and defined inside of the
prophetic and historic “Mysterious Babylon”.
• This confusion permeates our culture and can
be cured by this admonition.
• And I heard another voice from heaven saying,
“Come out of her, my people, lest you share in
her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 11
• Psalm 1
• 1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful.
• 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night.
• 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that
bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
• Overcoming Advice:
• 1. Love God
• 2. Humility
• 3. Obedience
• 4. The Truth
