W = Help the participants know Where the session is going and What is expected? Help the presenter know
Where the participants are coming from (prior knowledge, interests)? How many of you feel that every
student who goes through our course is completely engaged and learns exactly the way we are
designing our curriculum?
H = How will you get participants interested? Show:
https://youtu.be/DHCxsPeLyQk Ask: How does this
video connect with education and student
thoughts/learning?
E = Equip participants, help them Experience the key ideas and Explore the issue? Introduce Blendspace.
Talk about how I have used it in my online course and show examples of my creations. Walk through the
following with participants:
- Creating an account
- Creating a Blendspace (each element will be discussed)
- Sharing a Blendspace
- Adding Collaborators
R = Provide opportunities to Rethink and Revise their understandings and work? Always compare with the

Full Session/Lesson Sequence:
Pre-lesson- as participants walk in, give each a red card and handout for
Blendspace. Also, have the webpage for blendspace channel on the
board/projector. Explain the purpose of the red card as you begin the lesson.
- Talk about how we are no longer teachers of our subject but how
important it is to use and teach tech implementation.
- Ask how many of you feel unprepared to offer blended learning
opportunities for your students.
Lesson:
- About Blendspace and what I use it for: Blendspace is an online
blended learning hub where you can create blended learning lessons in
minutes. What if I could told you you could learn to use this resource
in minutes?!
- Check out this video on what one tech video creator said about
blendspace: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsONWnbYGnM (show
to25 second mark)
- Now I get it, we are all virtual educators- what can WE use this for? I
have been using it myself as a supplement to modules to help with
choke lessons and overall lesson reviews (choke lessons are the most
difficult concepts that students are taught)
- The purpose of session 1 of this professional development is to help
you learn how to use this amazing resource.
- Walk through sign up, dashboard, create lesson and sharing together
with the group.
- Any questions from the group?
- Now pair up or if you prefer to work individually that is ok too! You
have 10 minutes to put together a blendspace on the subject of your
choice.
- Allow time to share. Ask participants what concerns they might have?
Any questions? Restrictions they forsee?
Review/Conclusion
- Today we learned how to use blendspace. In our next session we will
assign lessons and modules to pairs. We will work on blendspaces that
can be learned within our content areas.
- As people leave ask them to share 1 thing they have learned about
Blendspace (Exit Ticket)
