Textbook: Way Ahead 2/ McMillan
Competencies:
Lesson aims: (at the end of the lesson,the students will be better able to) :
- to practise questions forms and short answers about the weather
- to use weather related words and phrases to practise vocabulary
- to introduce seasons and review the months of the year
- to review adjectives hot, cold, warm etc.
Affective objectives
- to create a warm atmosphere in order to offer the background for smooth easy conversation between
teacher and students;
- to give students an active role in the process of teaching/learning;
- to help students enjoy speaking a foreign language ;
- to make students confident when speaking English
Teaching aids: OHP, handouts, pictures, textbook.
Skills: speaking, reading , writing, listening
Organization : individual work, pair work, group work;
Teaching techniques: Text work , Spelling exercises, Interview, Asking/Answering to questions.
Assumed knowledge: SS are familiar with some vocabulary
Anticipated problems: Ss may have some problems understanding and using specific vocabulary and they may
be tempted to use their native language when trying to explain things;
Didactic Strategies: Questions, explanation, disscutions.
Evaluation: continuous, through observation and analysis of answers
ACTIVITY 1 - WARM-UP Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T, Frontal Timing: 10 min

AIMS: - to get students involved into the topic and create a relaxed atmosphere;
- to practice listening for specific information
- to raise expectations and involvement in the tasks that will follow

T. greets, checks the attendance and introduces the new topic: What day is today? What month is ?
This lesson focuses on the weather. Students will firstly sing a song (Hows the weather? ) to introduce
the topic of the weather.
T announces the objectives of the new lesson

ACTIVITY 2 Interaction: T- Ss, Class interaction, Frontal Timing: 20 min

AIMS: - to revise the monthts of the year, seasons.


to identiy and match the seasons, months of the year
to develop vocabulary skills

T display some pictures: seasons, months of the year , weather, and words and asks SS to match them.
SS take turns on the board. They will then do a series of activities to practise weather vocabulary .
T drills new words using choral and individual repetition.
T plays a song m4 and the SS sing along

ACTIVITY 3 Interaction: T-Ss, Individual Work, Pair Work Timing: 18 min

AIMS : to describe seasons


-to fill some blanks with the the right words
- to read for comprehension

T hands out to SS worksheets for vocabulary practice.


T asks Ss to look and read the sentences and try to guess the right word from column.
SS are asked to describe the pictures

Assessment (1min): T appreciates the students that were active during the entire lesson and gives advice to the
less active ones.
Home assignment (1 min): to finish the worksheet
