Assignment
$
Context: This was an assignment given as an exit slip at the beginning of the year. Students had to evaluate how
much $the characters were showing effective habits and mindsets. Students were to complete the graphic organizer.
$
Reflection: Student E struggles to develop a strong claim as he starts his answer with My answer is and uses undefined
pronouns in his response which make it unclear who he is referring to. Student E does not use textual evidence and instead
explains his understanding of story events in the evidence space.

Assignment
$ Context: This was an assignment given as classwork later in the year. Students had to analyze the feelings of
a character
$ and respond with a strong claim, evidence, and explanation.
$
$
Reflection:Student E demonstrates growth from earlier in the year as he establishes a strong claim by restating the
question and answering the question. While he uses a sentence starter to cite evidence, he does not cite textual evidence
and instead explains his intended piece of evidence.
