For the March Break, all OEYC programs are cancelled,
and instead, there are drops in throughout the week.
Today I attended the drop in that is open for all newborn-
6 years olds. It ran from 9:15am- 12:00pm. In the
program the activities include creative art and sensory
activities. The center is set up with toys for free play as
well as books for reading. The program starts and ends
with circle time.
Objectives:
1. To give the children the opportunity to engage in
new activities/toys that they may not have access
to at home.
2. To allow the children to interact with other
children to build their social skills.
3. For the parents to converse with other families
4. For parents to have the opportunity to ask the
professionals any questions they may have
regarding their child(ren).
5. To give the family a chance to get out of the house
and experience a chance of scenery.
Description:
1. We had the room set up with a creative and
sensory activity. The space had a wide variety of
toys due to the wide variety or children that attend
this program. There were toys age appropriate for
age zero to six.
2. The creative activity was open art with a wide
variety of art materials to manipulate.
3. The sensory activity was Floam with Mr. potato
head items.
4. The the sensory bin, there was corn and seeds
with farm animals.
5. Around the room as well as at the door, there are
may resources for the parents such as flyers,
pamphlets etc.
6. The educators are present as well as other
professionals to answer the parents
question/concerns.

Signature:
The drop in went very well. It was very busy since it was
march break. Maximum capacity was reached very
quickly. As opposed to the regular drop ins, there was a
wide variety of ages amongst the children. Normally,
there is an abundance of children under the age of three.
Today there were more school aged children than
regularly. The whole drop in, the children were very busy
and engaged. Due to the larger number of older children,
the loose parts sections was more popular than usual.
Overall, considering how busy the room was, it was well
managed. The parents/caregivers were involved in the
childrens play and learning and the children were
interacting with one another very effectively.
