Summary

Innocent Voices

Innocent Voices, a movie directed by Luis Mandoki tells the sad story of the lives of people

living in El Salvador in the 1980s. Its specifically based on the story of one young boy named

Chave that is caught up in the middle of the war, desperately fighting for his life as well as trying

to avoid to be forced into the military.

After his father abandons them, eleven year old Chava is now the new man of the house. He is

now left with the responsibilities of going to school, taking care of his family and trying to find a

way of providing money. Chava which is eleven at the beginning of the movie, is scared of

turning twelve just like all the other boys. Turning twelve at that time meant that they would be

recruited to the government army.

The government was being given american funds to fight the communist led guerrillas. They are

drafting all 12 year old boys. Forcing them to live the most horrifying experiences. Innocents are

dying, people are so poor they cant afford a way out of there and these twelve year olds are

being forced to leave their families behind. Innocent voices is a movie guaranteed to make you

tear.
