For the phonics game we focused on the dipthongs ou and ow. The
student missed 3 out of 30, which is about 90% accuracy. The words
that were missed were plow, house, and spout. Student commented
that she loved the game and never knew that the ou and ow made
that sound!
For the fluency activity the student read a story about the Fourth of
July. It talked about parades and the army, and she was able to make a
personal connection with both of those words. She read slowly but was
able to sound out unfamiliar words accurately most of the time. When
assessed using a Reading A-Z level I fluency passage, SR read at 27
words a minute with 88% accuracy.
For vocabulary, we completed a cloze passage. Student was able to
identify all of the sight words and needed about 5 prompts to
successfully complete the passage. Student was able to read the
passage in its entirety afterwards.

For the phonics game we focused on the dipthongs ou and ow. The
student missed 4 out of 30, which is about 86% accuracy. The words
that were missed were fowl, bow, proud, and foul. Student enjoyed the
game and said it was very fun.
For the fluency activity the student read a level G Reading A-Z story
silently about ants. When he needed to answer the comprehension
questions, he said that he did not want to use the text to refer back.
The student missed 2 out of 6 questions, which is about 66% accuracy.
One of the questions was classifying information and the other was a
vocabulary question. When assessed using a Reading A-Z level K
fluency passage, student read 51 words per minute with 100%
accuracy.
For vocabulary, we completed a cloze passage. Student was
overwhelmed at first and needed help understanding the activity, even
after directions and modeling. Student was able to identify all of the
sight words and needed about 5 prompts to successfully complete the
passage. Student was able to read the passage in its entirety
afterwards.

For the vocabulary lesson we worked on building vocabulary

knowledge by identifying DOLCH sight words. I incorporated checkers
into this game, which kept the student engaged and excited! Read60/63
5thgradeDOLCHsightwords(95%accuracy).Missedpresence,statues,andtailor.
For the fluency lesson, the student was able to read the poetry at a
steady reading rate. However, expression is lacking and often neglects
punctuation marks. Poetry seems to be helping student with phrasing
and pausing at punctuation. During the reading, student missed the
words rewrote, image, bouquet, and lay.
During comprehension lesson, student read a level V reading passage.
Throughout the story we would stop and recap what we read or ask
opinion questions. The student struggled with these skills and his
responses seemed far off. Seems to get fixated on one thing and
repeat himself over and over until he finishes his thought. Missed
describe, entered, and fiery.
