Stability and Trim for the Ships Officer

By: William George E.

Introduction
The title of this book is Stability and Trim for the Ships Officer by William
George. This book was published in Contreville, Mary Land 1990. Stability is
not an easy subject, but it is felt that a more thorough knowledge and
understanding of the subject by the ships officer will result in a much more
efficient and valuable valuable officer who will be a credit.

Summary
This book is a third edition book which is all about ships stability and
trim. Every chapter has been revised and rewritten. There are two new
chapters in this book such as longitudinal hull strength and movable bulk
cargoes have been added. The chapter on stability and trim computers has
been revised to show how this devices have evolved over the the year into
todays modern electronic stability, trim, and longitudinal strength
computers. This book contains a lot of ideas related on a ships stability and
trim.

Review/ Critique
The book is highly technical for me because its for professional. The
target readers of the author are officers in a ship and persons with a lot of
experience inside a ship. I read this book because of the interesting title,
luckily our teacher taught us about the stability and trim in thee ship. So
there are some ideas I understand but obviously there a lot of things I need to
learn about this topic.every chapter in the book is detailed every words are
defined perfectly. Every related topics that are closely related to stability are
stated in the book even if smallest and the tiniest details related are stated in
the book. There are also quizzes indicated in the book by the end of each
chapter. The purpose of the quiz is to evaluate the knowledge or ideas that
the audience or the reader learned in the topic in the books per chapter. The
author also indicates some comparison about some thing that are close
related such as Stability versus Stowage. There are also summaries indicated
in every chapter, I found it very useful because you dont need to read the
whole chapter in order to get the whole point or idea of the chapter you are
reading. Over-all the book is very detailed precise and accurate information
were given or stated in the book.

Conclusion
As I observed the book is so useful in different ways but the book is highly
technical uses words that are suited for a Maritime courses. For readers that
have enough experience, well this is very useful them.
