CAMPGROUND IS OFF-LIMITS TO DAY USE
New Brighton State Beach is a popular 93-
acre park with 111 developed campsites, a
group picnic area, day-use parking for 235
cars, and almost one mile of shoreline.The
campsites accommodate tents and RVs up
to 36’ in length. There are no sewer hookups.
However, there are fully developed restrooms
with hot pay showers in the campground and
a sanitation station for RVs. Nine campsites
are designated “PREMIUM” and added fees
apply.The park centers around aquatic activ-
ity with a small pocket beach that is extremely
popular for swimming, sunbathing, beach-
combing and surf fishing. A hiking trail leads
from the campground down to the bluffs and
to the beach. Hiking trails also follow the cliffs
to surface streets which lead to the village
known as “Capitola by the Sea”.
OCCUPANCY Eight people are allowed
per family campsite.
VEHICLE PARKING Campsites are
designed to accommodate no more than
two vehicles. Additional vehicles must be
parked in the overflow parking. Call for
information on the extra vehicle charge.
VEHICLE RULES Vehicles must park on
pavement. (This prevents damage to tree
roots and plant life.)
TRAILERS No water or effluent may be
discharged onto the ground. Please use
appropriate RV sanitation stations.
CHECKOUT TIME Checkout time is noon.
Please vacate your site by that time.
DOGS Dogs must be kept on a leash no
longer than six feet and under control at all
times. Dogs must be confined to a vehicle or
tent from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please clean up
after your pets.
WILDLIFE Campers at New Brighton State
Beach should be wary of the numerous rac-
coons that live in the park. They come out
at night and love to feast on campers’ food.
These clever animals can get into ice chests
and food lockers, so make sure that all food
is safely put away. Remember that all wild-
life should only be observed from a distance
and not approached or fed.
FIRES AND FIREWOOD Fires are allowed
only in established fire rings or camp stoves.
Do not build ground fires outside the fire
rings or leave campfires unattended. Do not
gather firewood in the park—the nutrients
must be allowed to recycle back into the eco-
system. You may purchase firewood at the
entrance station and camp host site.
SPEED LIMIT The maximum speed limit is
15 mph. Use good judgement.
QUIET HOURS Quiet hours are from
10 p.m. to 8 a.m. To ensure an enjoyable
experience for everyone, please do not
disturb other campers, regardless of the
time of day or night.
NOISE Radios and other sound-producing
devices must not be audible beyond your
immediate campsite, regardless of the time
of day or night. Engine driven generators
or other devices are not to be operated
between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 a.m.
ALCOHOL No alcohol is allowed on the
beach and in the day-use picnic area.
THEFT WARNING Keep your vehicles
locked and your valuables out of sight. Do
not leave property out at night. Report
suspicious activity to a ranger or camp host.
