In almost three months, I learned more about the field of education than I ever thought possible. Many of the educational practices and theories introduced to me as a student were strongly applied when I was observing. Through the guide of my professor and cooperating teachers I also learned new practices and teaching tips. It provides me a wonderful experience that will best benefit me into my future teaching career. It was 11th day of January, when I started to observe in Grade 3 pupils of section Humility. Their teacher is Mrs. Eva Iringan and the subject is English. She was knowledgeable in terms of teaching to their students in a way of learning. Teacher Eva allowed me to have great freedom with the classes and encouraged me to go around and check also the students works. She also offered me tips in teaching. Shes always willing to help me out when I needed. Teacher Layda said. To be a teacher, you have to build up your self-confidence. And yes, thats true. Don't allow your students to know that you are not prepared or nervous. Because if you do, you just give them a hint to not to listen to you. But don't hide your heart. Still, be compassionate, show your care and love to them. Imparting something isn't limited in material things and knowledge. It always goes along with proper values and morals. Just like the teachers that I observed, T. Aira, T. Ynna and T. Laydalina. They are all sharing their different teaching strategies and advices on how to become an effective teacher in the near future. I can never forget all of them because they fill me on how to be a teacher. I will treasure all the moments we had since my first observation in their class. Interacting with the students was the most rewarding aspect of teaching. Teaching which had been perceived as the lowly profession was then considered widely profession. It was the profession of dedicated educators responding to the urgent call of molding and transforming the youth so that they would become useful members and active citizens of the nation. I learned that it was very important to build a good relationship with them. They were not only our students but a friend or a younger brother and sister as well. One of the greatest challenges that I faced in our Field Study 5 and 6 was the Final Teaching Demonstration. First, T. Eva chose my topic. Its the Subject and Predicate in a Sentence. Second prepare your visual aids as well. Don't under estimate the power of visual aids. It reflects your personality. Then, the most important is, prepare your Lesson Plan well. Do it ahead of time- don't rush. You can create a great and awesome lesson when you prepared it earlier. Know your objectives, make your motivation relevant to the topic and prepare a "student-centered" lesson. Let them work and explore. You are dealing with 21st Century learners so as with your approach. And lastly, do an evaluation- prepare your rubrics of course. Last thing is wear your smile and clothed yourself with self-confidence. And don't forget to pray and ask guidance from God. On March 8, 2017, the last day of my observation. I will surely miss them. Because they make me strong to survive in this field of practice and they make me fall in love more in teaching. Overall, my observation and being a student teacher provided me with a true experience in the world of teaching profession. I am very excited to have my own class. I am now ready for the challenges that will come my way. Each day is a new day, and no days in the classroom will be identical, learn from each day and each experience. Teaching is my passion. I am fun-loving and really enjoy working with kids. I hope to make a difference in the lives and inspire them to dream big and work hard to reach their goals.
