Hoy, nos ha nacido el Salvador. sta
es la buena noticia de esta noche
de Navidad. Como en cada Navidad,
Jess vuelve a nacer en el mundo,
en cada casa, en nuestro corazn.
Con la sencillez de nios,
consideramos el gran misterio de
nuestra fe. El nacimiento de Jess
seala la llegada de la "plenitud de
los tiempos". Desde el pecado de
nuestros primeros padres, el linaje
humano se haba apartado del
Creador. Pero Dios, compadecido de
nuestra triste situacin, envi a su
Hijo eterno, nacido de la Virgen
Mara, para rescatarnos de la
esclavitud del pecado.
El apstol Juan lo explica usando
expresiones de gran profundidad
teolgica: En el principio exista la
Palabra y la Palabra estaba con
Dios, y la Palabra era Dios (Jn 1,1).
Juan llama "Palabra" al Hijo de Dios,
la segunda persona de la Santsima
Trinidad. Y aade: Y la Palabra se
hizo carne, y puso su Morada entre
nosotros (Jn 1,14).
Meditamos que nace el Hijo Eterno
de Dios en Beln, tal como haba
sido profetizado y la Virgen tuvo
que acostarlo en un pesebre,
porque no haba sitio en la posada
(cf. Lc 2,7).
Reflexionando con fe, encontramos
en estas palabras un paralelismo
con lo afirmado en el "Prlogo de
san Juan" (1,11): "Vino a su casa y

1. Today, the Savior has been born.
This is the good news of this
Christmas day.
Like in every Christmas,
Jesus is born again in the world,
in each home, in our heart.
2. With children's simplicity,
we are considering
the great mystery of our Faith.
Jesus' birth emphasizes
the arrival of the Fullness of Time.
As a result of the original sin
of our first parents, the human
lineage diverged from its Creator.
But God, grieving over our sad
condition,
sent his Eternal Son,
born from the Virgin Mary, to us,
to redeem us from the slavery of sin
3. John, the apostle,
explains it by using expressions
of great theological deepness.
John names the Son of God,
the Second Person of the Holy
Trinity,
as the Word.
And he adds:
And the Word was made flesh;
He had his tent pitched among us
(Jn 1:14).
4. We meditate that
the Eternal Son of God is born,
in Bethlehem, as it had been
prophesied,
and the Virgin had to put it in a
manger,
because there was no room for
them.
5. Reflecting in faith,
we find in these words a parallelism
with what was affirmed
in the "Prologue of St. John" (1:11):

puertas de la ciudad naci tambin
fuera de sus murallas.
Esto es lo que celebramos hoy, por
eso hacemos fiesta. Maravillados,
contemplamos a Jess acabado de
nacer. Es un recin nacido y, a la
vez, Dios omnipotente; sin dejar de
ser Dios, ahora es tambin uno de
nosotros.
Ha venido a la tierra para
devolvernos la condicin de hijos de
Dios. Pero es necesario que cada
uno acoja en su interior la salvacin
que l nos ofrece. Tal como explica
san Juan, a todos los que la
recibieron les dio poder de hacerse
hijos de Dios (Jn 1,12). Hijos de
Dios! Quedamos admirados ante
este misterio inefable: El Hijo de
Dios se ha hecho hijo del hombre
para hacer a los hombres hijos de
Dios (San Juan Crisstomo).
Pero, a diferencia de lo que celebra
nuestra sociedad consumista, Jess
no nace en un ambiente de
derroche, de compras, de
comodidades, de caprichos y de
grandes comidas. Jess nace con la
humildad de un portal y de un
pesebre.
Esto debe hacernos pensar y
remitirnos al cambio de valores que
hay en la figura de Jesucristo, en su
mensaje. Ya desde su nacimiento, l

6. For the Savior of the world there is
no room! He who was crucified
outside the gates of the city was
also born outside its walls.
7. This is what we are celebrating
today;
this is why it is a great feast.
We marvel at Jesus, newly born.
He is a baby... but also, God All
Mighty;
He is God, but now, He is also one
of us.
8. He has come to Earth
to bring us back to our condition
of children of God.
However, we must welcome within
us
the salvation He is offering us.
As St. John explains,
but all who have received him
He empowers to become children of
God
for they believe in his Name (Jn
1:12). Children of God!
Let us prize this ineffable mystery:
The Son of God has become son of
man,
in order to make us sons of God
(St. John Crysostom).
9. But unlike what our consumerist
society celebrates Jesus is not born
in an environment of waste,
purchases, comfort, whim and
meals.
Jesus is born in the humility
of the Nativity scene.
10. This should make us think and refer
to the change of values
that is in the figure of Jesus Christ,
in his message.

no pertenece a ese ambiente que
segn el mundo es importante y
poderoso. Y, sin embargo,
precisamente este hombre
irrelevante y sin poder se revela
como el realmente Poderoso.
Ser cristiano implica salir del
mbito de lo que todos piensan y
quieren, de los criterios
dominantes, para entrar en la luz
de la verdad sobre nuestro ser.
Acojamos a Jess, busqumosle:
solamente en l encontraremos la
salvacin, la verdadera solucin
para nuestros problemas; slo l da
el sentido ltimo de la vida y de las
contrariedades y del dolor. Por esto,
hoy os propongo: leamos el
Evangelio, meditmoslo;
procuremos vivir verdaderamente
de acuerdo con la enseanza de
Jess, el Hijo de Dios que ha venido
a nosotros. Y entonces veremos
cmo ser verdad que, entre todos,
haremos un mundo mejor.

Already from his birth,

environment

precisely this irrelevant and
powerless man
is revealed as the really Mighty
One.
11. Being a Christian implies getting out
of the realm of what everyone
thinks and wants, from the
dominant criteria, to enter into the
light of truth about our being.
12. Let us welcome Jesus,
let us seek him:
we shall find salvation,
and the true solution
to the problems of our world, only in
Him; He only is giving us
the ultimate meaning of life,
of our pains and setbacks.
This is why, today, I am proposing
you:
let us read the Gospel,
and let us mull over it;
let us try to truly live in accordance
with the teachings of Jesus,
the Son of God that has come into
us.
Only then, we will realize that,
together,
we could truly build a better world.
