with a PENCIL.

Once you fill out your student information, look to the top left
corner. There you will see 4 Core Courses:
1. ENGLISH I Choose Academic (Regular) or Pre-AP
2. MATHEMATICS
Choose Academic or Pre-AP Algebra I. If you choose Academic, you
can choose to have it double-blocked (Algebra class every day).

Course Contract Instructions
(continued)

Classes 5-8:
Choose 4 additional classes.
Choose selections from those listed on the back side of the
paper and write the course name on the front side of the choice
sheet.

You may choose:

LOTE (Language other than English)
Fine Arts Course (s)
P.E. or Athletics
Career and Technology Education Course (s)
Other Electives
After School Athletics Choice

If you would like to register for an athletics class that is held OUTSIDE
of the school day (marching band, cross country, PE waiver, soccer,
etc.), please write the course in the dedicated space. However, you still
need to choose 8 classes. Although these do not count towards your 8
classes, they will satisfy your P.E. requirement.

Many sports have practice over the summer. Please make sure to
contact the coach for the particular sport to find out the schedule. Each
coachs contact information can be found on the athletics handout
provided to you or the Bowie website-www.jbhs.org.
Reminders
Please count the number of credits/class periods. They must add up
to 8. (Students who are taking a before school or after school will
have more)

List 2 alternative courses. If a class choice is full and you have

not listed any other options, we will choose your alternative courses
for you.

List 1 class to drop. This is important because, should you need an

another course, such as an academic support class, we will need to
know which class to drop.
How many Pre-AP classes should I
take?

ASK YOURSELF:
What are my favorite subjects?
What extra-curricular activities am I going to
participate in?
What do my teachers recommend?
How competitive do I want to be for college
admissions?
Remember: Most Pre-AP classes have summer
assignments due the first day of class.
*Balance is the key!*
