YOUTH PASTOR PERSON AND POSITION SPECIFICATION


PRIMARY ROLE
The Youth Pastor position exists to lead, direct and prioritise relevant ministries for youth and young adults which
fulfil the Mission and Vision of NewLife Baptist Church Youth Ministry.
The Mission of NewLife Baptist Church Youth Ministry:
To seek out young people, to make disciples who make disciples.

SCOPE OF ROLE
This Role provides leadership and support to the Upper Primary, Youth and Young Adult ministries
The Youth Pastor is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor and indirectly to the NewLife Baptist Church
Leadership Team
The Youth Pastor is expected to provide regular reporting to NewLife Baptist Church Leadership Team

KEY OBJECTIVES
The person in this role will be expected to achieve performance targets within the designated Key Objectives that
are negotiated and mutually agreed with the Senior Pastor.

Guided by the Youth Ministry's Mission and Vision statements, seek Gods purposes to lead,
direct and prioritise relevant ministries for young people
Planning
Prepare, implement, monitor, and in conjunction with the Senior Pastor's supervision,
frequently review a Ministry plan to achieve the Youth Ministry Mission and Vision
statements.
Leadership
Lead and prepare volunteer teams and leaders to equip youth to make disciples who make
disciples.
Team
Team
Recruit, lead and empower volunteer team leaders to create, maintain and support their
own team of empowered volunteers, relevant to their respective ministries.
Relationships
Develop and maintain high quality relationships and care with ministry volunteers and
leaders;

Support
Provide Spiritual leadership for volunteer ministry team leaders. Nurture and mentor them in
their faith journey so that they are able to discover and engage the full potential of their
Spiritual gifts in service
Training
Lead and teach volunteers and volunteer leaders to plan, schedule and resource ministry
activities in a timely way. Discuss and review these plans with them to identify training and
resource needs.
Supervision
Provide supervision, encouragement and direction for volunteers and volunteer team leaders
Management
Administration
Ensure relevant ministries for children and young people are administered and resourced
Compliance
Ensure systems support high quality programs, which adhere to relevant professional codes
of conduct, ethics and standards and comply with NewLife Baptist Church's polices and
procedures, including Child Protection
Personal
Development
Prioritise and maintain personal, professional and spiritual development, including engaging
a personal mentor(s).
Reflection
Modify personal practices and programs based on reviews, complaints, feedback and
research

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute positively to the mission, ministry and teamwork of the Pastoral Ministry Team
Provide each volunteer with a brief Position Description (or Position Plan) that explains what is expected
of them and why

Demonstrated Pastoral and relational ability with young people
demonstrated competency in leadership and management of youth ministry and mission
Preaching/teaching gifts
coaching and mentoring experience

Previous experience in a similar role
Knowledge
knowledge and understanding of contemporary youth culture and mission within that culture
familiarity with information technology and personal computer skills
Qualifications
Senior First Aid
Mandatory Reporting
Completing or willing to undertake a Ministry qualification
