1st Lesson: Heating and Cooling Matter

Anything that takes up space is matter. The
main idea of this lesson is that student will Project
know that matter can change the phase.(liquid
to solid, solid to liquid, liquid to gas)

Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies

Beginning the Lesson:


Greeting students.
Reading through the classroom rules
Listen carefully
Raise your hand
Be patient
Be respectful
Teacher will review the previous unit which was about state of matter.
Teacher: will start a new unit about heating and cooling matter.
Ask them if they know what the 3 states of matter are.
List the three states of matter on the board.

Teacher will tell student that they are going to learn about change in
matter.
Ask your students if a solid can turn into a liquid. Explain that a cube of
ice can turn into a liquid with heat. Place a cube of ice in warm water,
and have your students observe it for 5 minutes. Show your students
how the ice is starting to melt.
Ask your students if a liquid can turn into a gas. Place a glass of water in
a microwave. Set the microwave to 3 minutes. Take out the cup and
show students that the bubbles formed on top of the water consist of gas.

Developing the Lesson


What will happen if you cook the raw egg? Is it become cook egg or till the same?
To find the answer they should do the experiment

Some changes are permanent. When the raw egg put in the pan
and heat up will change as cooked egg and cant become raw egg
again.
Or if the raw egg is boiled, it will become cooked egg.

Closing the Lesson:


o Gather them in one place.
o Revise the lesson
o Matter can change the phase. Some matter changes temporary and some matter
changes permanent.

Formative Assessment Differentiation
Students will observe, ask and answer - I will demonstrate and show the activity
questions related with the experiment. how it works and giving example.
They can draw pictures about what
happened on the paper
