STUDENT RESPONSE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS

Name: Ursula Lee-Mack

Grade Level: Kindergarten
Content Area: Science
Standards Addressed: https://www.georgiastandards.org/Pages/Default.aspx)
SKL2. Students will compare the similarities and differences in groups of organisms.
d. Match pictures of animal parents and their offspring explaining your reasoning. (Example:
dog/puppy; cat/kitten; cow/calf; duck/ducklings, etc.)
Student Response Technology Used:
NearPod Socrative PollEverywhere iRespond TodaysMeet Other:
Technology that students will use to respond to questions/prompts:
Computer Hand-held student response system (such as iRespond) Phone
Tablet (such as iPad Other wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS activity and how you will
introduce the SRS activity: Teacher will have a class discussion about parents, children, and siblings to
make the subject more relatable to the students. I would open the discussion to talk about in home pets and
if they have offspring. I would define a parent, offspring and their role in the family unit. The discussion
would include pictures and words flashcards in a baggie for each student to give them hands on activity.
Also, during centers I will include books about animals and their families. We will play games that include
matching animals to their habitats and touch and feel books of animal skin and/or fur.
Describe the purpose of the SRS activity (check all that apply):
Assess Prior Knowledge Anticipatory Set (Create Interest in a Topic) To Illuminate Common
Misconceptions Formative Assessment of Content Knowledge (for purposes of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative Assessment of Content Knowledge Test Preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion Starter Homework Collection Other
Additional explanation of purpose (optional):

Type of session: Teacher-Paced Student-Paced

Identification of students:
Students will log-in so their individual scores will be available to you after the session
SRS activity will be anonymous
Briefly describe what will happen during the SRS activity The students will complete a
knowledge check about the class discussion we had on the topic of parents, offspring and their role.
This knowledge check will aid in determining the students level of understanding about offspring in
relation to their parent. The information collected from right/wring answers will enable me to
understand whether or not the students understood the discussion. The materials needed would be
a clicker to make responses or a student may use an ipad. The activity should not last more than 10-
15 minutes.

Types of questions/prompts (Check all that apply):
Multiple choice Multiple Select True/False Yes/No Short open-ended response
or fill in the blank Longer open-ended response
Provide samples of questions/prompts to be given to students: The link to my quiz is
https://b.socrative.com/teacher/#import-quiz/27552011
Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective e feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity? Yes No
Why or why not? I will use displaying the correct answer as a tool to discuss the content of the lesson and
reveal and reinforce key ideas for students to remember the content easier.
Use of data: What data will be collected as a result of this activity? How will it be used and by whom?
The students right or wrong answer data will be in the form of a graph created by the software for the
teacher to gather and review determine students understanding of content discussed. The quiz will allow
the teacher to determine if students were able to apply the knowledge about the animals offspring. If
students miss the same question or multiple ones then the content needs to be delivered in another form.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: The students knowledge of animals and their offspring
will increase. They will be able to distinguish between a parent and child of various animals. Also they
will have the knowledge to group animals together by similarities as well.
