hen it comes to starting a new career after retirement, Jim D'Ambrosio,
owner of Lincoln Gold & Coin, might be considered somewhat of an LINCOLN GOLD
expert he has done it three times! & COIN
Starting a new career after retirement isn't always about needing more income, WHERE
D'Ambrosio said. Sometimes people just get bored with retirement or feel they have 547 Lincoln Blvd., Lincoln
more to accomplish in their lifetime.
CONTACT
D'Ambrosio said he retired too early the first time at age 34 after selling the first (916) 543-4653
bank and an auto leasing company he founded. or lincolngoldandcoin.com
I felt I needed a change and was in a comfortable economic situation, so my wife
Jeannette and I moved our young family here from Orange County, he said. It just
looked very nice and got us out of the hustle and bustle of southern California. We
certainly never regretted the move.
DAmbrosios retirement only lasted five months when he began to drive his wife
nuts being underfoot all the time.
She jokingly told me to go and find something to do, so I did, he said.
D'Ambrosio opened Sierra Funding, Inc., a mortgage banking company. Then a
group from the area convinced him to help them start a bank. Once DAmbrosio
obtained the charter, several in the group were unable to produce their share of the
initial capital, so he became the largest shareholder in his second bank. He merged his

My doctor told me if I didn't change professions, I was going
to have serious health problems. So when my contract was up, I UNiQUE cOLLEcTiBLES

Again, retirement didn't last long. DAmbrosios brother-in-law
approached him to help find a buyer for his business. DAmbrosio
came up with the idea of buying the manufacturing business and
allowing his wifes brother to continue running it. That way he
wouldn't have to find another job, and DAmbrosio could be an
absentee owner.
He expanded the company to become one of the largest garage
door companies in the state, purchased a second company in San
Diego, and opened an office in Roseville. When his brother-in-
law got remarried and moved, DAmbrosio sold the San Diego
plant and consolidated the main office to the offices in Roseville.
There, Jim and Jeannette DAmbrosio operated Sierra Garage Door
Service, Inc. until 2003 when a friend approached him to buy the

company.
Jeannette convinced Jim to accept the offer; thus, he retired for
the third time.
This time retirement lasted 11 years. In addition to traveling the

world and enjoying many things that people

dream about in retirement, they followed the
lead of their daughter Angela and moved to
Lincoln in 2006.
By 2014, Jim was bored and felt it was time
to get back into the business world. The couple
looked at many different opportunities. They an-
ticipated there were many people in the Lincoln
area that had lots of collectibles or inherited
items they no longer wanted or needed and
their kids didn't want either. There was really no
place in the Lincoln area to serve this need.
Jim was also an experienced investor in gold
and silver bullion, so including these in a shop
was a given. In March of 2014 they opened
Lincoln Gold & Coin.
Jim is fascinated with the TV show Pawn
Stars and, as it turns out, their shop is a minia-
ture version of that show.
We get the most interesting items that come
in to our shop each week. I really enjoy meeting
the people and hearing the interesting stories as
to how they acquired the items they bring in,
he said.
The shop carries a very beautiful inventory of
gold and silver estate jewelry, coins, rare porce-
lain figurines, gold and silver bullion for invest-
ment, and numerous other collectible items.
If it is interesting collectible and you can
carry it into our shop, we are interested in look-
ing at it and perhaps buying it, he said. We
have purchased everything from Mickey Mouse
watches to an extremely rare Greek coin from
400 years before Christ.
Customers are impressed with the comfort-
able feel of the shop as well as the quality of
the merchandise. The shop houses one of the
largest inventories of estate jewelry in the area,
offering expert jewelry repair, manufacturing
and engraving.
We partnered with a wonderfully talented
jeweler who not only does beautiful work, but is
extremely reasonably priced compared to other
shops. Some of the custom pieces he has done
for our customers are remarkable, Jim said.
If you are looking for an exceptional gift,
have some jewelry, coins or collectible items to
sell, are shopping for yourself, or perhaps are Lincoln Gold & Coin offers a variety of goods and treasures including many collectible

This is a ride, not a race, Executive Director of Lincoln
Volunteer Center Bob Romness said.
This is the 16th year the Lincoln Volunteer Center has host-
ed the Tour de Lincoln. It is a ride for all ages and all varying
levels of expertise. The variety of courses ranges from a short
and leisurely 10 miles to the Metric Century 63 miles.
The Pleasure Cruise (10 mile) course is perfect for families
with young children or leisure riders and wraps along a section
of the Lincoln Hills Golf Course.
Thats a nice family friendly route. Its real simple, Rom-
ness said.
The Rolling Hills (20 miles) route includes beautiful scenery
and with a little more of an incline for some additional chal-
lenge.
The Country Climb (40 miles) is when it starts to get
tougher. A 1,500 feet vertical gain come into play. However, the
beautiful valley views and quaint horse ranches are worth the
trip.
The last course option is the Metric Century (63 miles),
which provides all the views of Lincoln anyone could ask for
with a 3,800-foot vertical gain. Have a no fear; there are rest-
stops on all of these courses to refuel for the miles ahead.
Its a beautiful ride, Romness said. The 100k is actually
our most popular ride.
People come from all over to experience this perfect spring
