HOW TO IMPLEMENT THE 3

RS IN OUR DAILY LIFE

We all know what the three Rs stand for Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. They help
conserve our natural resources and reduce waste.
Recycling, Reusing and Reducing is being practiced on a global scale by a lot of foreign
countries who have implemented Recycling Programs in their National Environment
Policies. Recycling has a large number of environmental benefits and it also saves saves
energy.

REDUCE:
Reducing the amount of waste material a person produces per day is the best way a person
can do his/her part .

Instead of opting for newspapers, go for e-newspapers. You can save money and
paper doing that. Also remember that you should print what you need.
Save water by turning off the faucet while brushing, combing or shaving.
Wash your veggies in a bowl instead of in running water.
Try and avoid using cars and use public transport.
Turn off the lights when not in use.
Borrow items that are not used frequently!
By replacing normal light bulbs with CFL you can save a lot of energy and reduce
your electricity bill too!
Do not buy products with unnecessary packaging.
Also remember to opt out for junk mail. You have no idea how much paper youll end
up saving!
DO NOT waste food. Cook what is required and do not throw away food.
Give away stuff you dont need. A persons waste is another ones treasure. You have
no idea how much you can help others by giving away simple stuff.
Buy batteries that are rechargeable.

REUSE :
You can save a lot of money and resources reusing things.Rather than throwing out things
like glass jars, clothes, paper etc use it again as it avoids creating waste.

Use all writing material properly. Dont waste paper.

Turn Old Picture Frames Into Serving Trays.
Instead of using plastic bags for groceries, use cloth bags.
Instead of throwing stuff out, donate it to people who need it more than you do.
Use silverware or glass crockery instead of disposable plates.
Always store food in reusable plastic containers.
Use newspapers to line the trash cans.
Old CDs can make awesome coasters. Also, get crafty and use egg cartons, keys etc
for creating something!
Old clothes can be used as rags or to create something else.
Tyres can be used to make swings and can also be donated.
Reuse your blankets. If you have a pet, give them a warm place to sit using your old
blankets!
Cut unused pieces of paper creating a message pad.
Reuse pens and stationary by donating them!
Reuse your old carpet.
Never throw away a book, gift it to someone or donate it to the library!
Sell or donate your old mobile phone. Dont throw it away.
Try and buy as less stuff as you can. Never buy things which are going to go waster.
You have no idea how much money you can save if you stop buying items which go
untouched.
Use biodegradable trash bags.

RECYCLE:
Recycling can turn waste into useful stuff. It extracts valuable materials from items which
you think are useless and convert them into something useful. It involves converting the
same item into a newer item or creating a completely different item out of it!

Try and use recycled paper. Recycling paper is very easy and can be done at home!
Dont buy things that you dont need that cant be recycled.
Got your own garden? Start a compost pit! Its good for the soil too!
Batteries can be used again for many purposes if recycled.
Donate used electronics that you dont need anymore.
Buy recycled products.
Glass jars and other similar containers can be rinsed and cleaned and used as storage
containers for a lot of items.
Instead of throwing away expired products, they can be sent back to the companies.
Buy products than can be recycled or reused.
Avoid buying hazardous materials. Try buying cleaners which are non toxic .
Always have recycling bins at your home.
Use soda bottles to create plants for herbs!
Create a window cover by using old negatives!
Use Old CD Cases to Store and Organize Cables
A few FACTS :
On recycling aluminum cans, we can save 95% of the energy which is required to
create one from scratch.
By changing full show shower heads to low flow ones, you can save up to 70,000
liters a year
Using recycled paper can save trees as making a ton of paper uses up to 20 trees.
A leaky faucet can waste up to 10 liters of water a day!
Using solar energy system can reduce your bills by 40-60%.
40% of the energy is used up when products are turned off thus wasting that
energy entirely.
On recycling glass, we can save 35% of the energy required to create it from
scratch.
Producing recycled paper needs only 60% of the energy required to create it from
scratch and also saves 10000 liters of water.
Recycling plastics only use two third the energy required to create it from scratch.
Every piece of recycled steel saves 2,500 kg of iron core, 1400 kg of coal and 100
kg limestone.
Think about it! Imagine a future with clean air and water for the future generation. That
is possible only if you start working for it today. Bring about tiny changes in your life
and do your part. Even a small simple change in your lifestyle is enough.

2. WHAT ARE THE THREE RULES? Reduce. Purchase products that require less packaging or
to limit the waste you are producing. Reuse. Use a travel mug or reusable water bottle and avoid
single-use bags. Recycle. Paper, plastic, glass, magazines, electronics, and more can be
processed into new products while using fewer natural resources and less energy. This is the 3
Rs mantra.
3. In abandoned area in our school where we can place or dig a compost pit then we can put
our trashes there like leaves, vegetables and peal of fruits instead of burning it up. Save water by
turning off the faucet when you are using the comfort room. Save energy by turning off lights that
you are not using.
4. Importance of Reducing Waste in School In the environment: Reduce pollution and energy
consumption . In financial: Improve productivity of staff.
5. Plastic containers and reusable lunch bags are great ways to take your lunch to school
without creating waste. Use silverware and dishes instead of disposable plastic utensils and
plates. Use empty bottle as alternative vase for plants.
6. Importance of Reusing Waste Materials in School In the environment: Recycling is important
because if you recycle you can give another life to your rubbish. Many trees can saved and we will
have a better environment. In financial: The money that they can save from reusing waste
materials, they can use it to buy more books for the library.
7. Use recycled materials when making performance task instead of buying materials needed.
Collect unused paper then create a folded vase. Use 1.5 litters of empty bottle then cut it and
shape it like a flower and add some paint to make it more prettier.
8. Importance of Recycling in School In the environment: It can lessen our garbage's that that can
cause diseases to the employees of the school and especially for the students. In financial: The
money that they can save from recycling waste can add to the money of the SSC of their school.
9. A student saw a lot of plastic wrapper at the canteen then that student realize that this wrapper
can go to drainage and when it rain it can stop to flow the water and can cause small kind of
flood, then student pick it up from the ground of the school canteen.
10. Now, the student is thinking what is the proper thing that he/she need to do to the plastic
wrapper, then all of a sudden there is an idea comes to that student mind, why dont he/she just
recycle it except of putting it up in the trash can. The pupil call up all his/her friends to help
him/her to recycle it into a beautiful decoration at their our own room.
11. They will have a meeting on how to create a decoration from the plastic wrapper they search
on the internet on how to do it, after that they create a pretty decor from a waste materials.
12. After they finish it, they will inspect if their work is correct and accurate from the plan or in the
instructions that they got from the internet.
13. Performing 3rs at school is a big participation to improve our environment. So, lets start
execute the REDUCE, REUSE and REYCLE!

REACH OUT PROGRAMS

The programs primary objective is to strengthen
the educational motivation and preparation of low-
income and educationally disadvantaged students
in grades 8 through 12, representing various
cultural backgrounds, who otherwise would be
unlikely to seek admission to a community college,
state university or independent post secondary
institution without special support and recruitment
efforts. Acceptance occurs prior to entering the
12th grade. The students are required to maintain
an academic grade point average (GPA) that will
lead to placement into a community college or
university. Furthermore, CROP active students are
expected to be involved in the scheduled field
trips.
