Activity Breakdown
1. T-Shirts must have the words Senior Retreat 2017
featured prominently. We will be designing the shirts
and signing them throughout the retreat.

2. During Small Group Sessions we will break up and go to

separate meeting places to discuss different aspects of
the retreat. Journals are provided for scratching down
thoughts and later for individual affirmations.

3. In the Culinary Activity we will be designing cupcakes

that represent ourselves and our spiritual journey.
Candies will be color coded to represent feelings like
love, joy, sadness, and awe. (pg

4. In the Candlelight Ceremony we are there to affirm the

GROUP. We want to affirm the class as a whole, what
have we helped each other work through. Take one
candle, light it and light the next one. Each one of us
brings a light to the group and together we create light
in the darkness. (pg

5. Tag game can be selected from the list featured on

page () and the t-shirt signing/affirmations will continue.

6. Free prayer meditations allows us time to explore the

grounds, write and contemplate the experiences we
have had thus far on the retreat. It is meant to be an
individual activity.

7. For the Flash Paper Cross we will all write something

that is a spiritual defect, a sin, a bad habit, etc. We will
pin it to the cross and light it, it will burn up entirely.
God takes our sins and forgives them, washing them
away.

White: An event where they felt close to God
Yellow: An activity that makes them happy
Red: A Connelly experienced where they gave or received
faith, hope, or love
Violet: A challenging time in their life that made them a
better person
Brown: A negative event that they can forgive and move on
Black: A sin or bad habit that requires Jesuss love and
forgiveness
Orange: A promise or resolution to have more faith, hope or
love

Candle Light Ceremony

Read the following passage:

Throughout this retreat, you have had the opportunity to

reflect on your life and relationships. Think about one thing
you have learned or one thing you are thankful for. When
you have thought of it, come forward one at a time, share
your thought and light a candle, placing it next to the
previous candles in a circle.

Light each candle in turn as we each affirm the group until

the whole table is full of lit candles.

Evening Prayer Service

Opening Song Mr. Olszyk

We are the Light of the World

Blessed are they who are poor in spirit,

Theirs is the kingdom of God.
Bless us, O Lord, make us poor in spirit;
Bless us, O Lord, our God.

Refrain
We are the light of the world,
may our light shine before all,
That they may see the good that we do,
and give glory to God.

Blessed are they who are meek and humble,

They will inherit the earth.
Bless us, O Lord, make us meek and humble;
Bless us, O Lord, our God.

Opening Prayer Sydney

From St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to
console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Reading Matthew 18:1-5, 10-14, 19-20 Juliana

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, Who,

then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among

them. And he said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and
become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom
of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of
this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And
whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes
me.

See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell
you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my
Father in heaven. What do you think? If a man owns a
hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not
leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one
that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is
happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine
that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in
heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should
perish

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about
anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father
in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there
am I with them.

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Brief Homily Mr. Olszyk

Taking ownership of your faith, looking back, and going

forward

Closing Prayer Isabelle

Dear God,
As we go forth into this year, help us to appreciate how
far we have come and look with courage towards the future.
Let us be shining examples of your love in this world. Help us
to study hard, be kind to those around us, and work to see
the liberation of all your people. Hold us firmly in palm of
your hand and never let us go. Amen.
