ELON, N.C.MEDIA ALERT

The Phi Mu Fraternity at Elon University is teaming up with the Zeta Beta

Tau Fraternity in their annual philanthropy event Bonnamu, which raises

awareness for the Childrens Miracle Network. The event will take place 7-9 p.m.

Nov. 7 at College Street Tap House in Elon. The public, students and professors at

the University are all welcome to come.

The Bonnamu event is named after the annual musical festival Bonnaroo that

takes place in Tennessee every summer. Several Phi Mu chapters across the nation

participate in this event on their own campuses in effort to spread awareness for

Childrens Miracle Network, a North American non-profit organization that raises

funds for childrens hospitals as well as medical research and community awareness

of childrens health issues.

People in not just our organization look forward to this event each fall

because it is a great way for the community to come together, Phi Mu sister

Katherine Custer said. I am looking forward to meeting new people, especially

freshmen who may be interested in our organization all while benefiting Childrens

Miracle Network.

The event will take place at Tap House, a venue within walking distance to

Elons Campus. Bonnamu will have live music, a photo station, art and jewelry for

sale, and food, just like the real event Bonnaroo offers. The small businesses that

have agreed to sell their work at the event include work from some of the

organizations members. They have to give a percentage of their proceeds to CMN.

This year, I am thrilled that we are able to book a band to perform live music

at the event, Helen Dooley, another Phi Mu sister said. It is something unique that

we are incorporating into Bonnamu that I am excited for everyone who comes out to

experience.

The Phi Mu Fraternity was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon,

Ga. and is the second oldest sorority in the nation. The Childrens Miracle Network

has been the organizations main Philanthropy from the beginning. Bonnamu is one

of the largest events that the fraternity puts on all year long and raises the most

money benefiting CMN. Only the Phi Mu fraternity put on this event making it very

unique to the 117 chapters around the U.S. who participate.
