Americas criminal justice system is broken, but politics often gets in the way of reforming it. The
article provides great insight and statistics that backs the findings that Americas mass
incarceration creates more broken communities and creates a future of children more likely to
commit crimes. Focusing more on mental and drug rehabilitation would create a healthier, more
stable community for places already high on crime. The quote, I think there is a general sense
right now that we have built a beast that has to be unbuilt, and people are trying to figure out
how we do it reveals that many do not believe high incarceration is an issue, when it really is;
we must figure out a way to reform the criminal justice system to make it more just. The source
is reputable because it is from pbs.org, and the person interviewed studies criminal justice at a
renowned university. I will use the information I learned to help me correlate enforcement,
poverty and crime.
