INTRODUCTION

Originally, SWU had a very important obligation to preserve arts and culture
and the University played a significant role in research and the preservation of
Thai art and culture. The Institute of Arts and Culture Research was founded in
2000 in accordance with the Economic Development and National Social
Planning that required Srinakharinwirot University to establish a centrally located
institute for the sharing of research in arts and culture.
The Faculty of Fine Arts of SWU has been developing its foundation for over
three decades. The Faculty always has had an arts education curriculum in
addition to supporting the arts and culture. However, after its eight campuses
nationwide separated from the central campus at Srinakharinwirot University,
many limitations arose in fulfilling its duties as an institute of art and culture.
SWU found that it could no longer work effectively in art and culture research.
After the separation of the campuses the Faculty of Fine Arts was able to observe
the weak and strong points of its education and research in the field of arts and
culture and, thus, the Institute of Arts and Culture was formed.
Faculty of Fine Arts Srinakharinwirot University organises The 6th
International Festival of Arts and Culture on 28th June up to 1st July 2016. This
yearly festival aims to promote national heritage to younger generation and to
provide platforms of exchanging performing arts for those with interest such as
students, lecturers and professions. Performers and participants are both from
local and international educational institutes. The participants include 25 pax
delegation from Indonesia, 32 pax delegation from Australia, 14 pax delegation
from Italy, 11 pax delegation from Malaysia, 9 pax delegation from Mexico, 13
pax delegation from Myanmar, 7 pax delegation from Philippines, 12 pax

all over the areas. Amid
globalization, Koh Yao is one
of the southern islands that

culture : Islamism teaches the
people to live by principles to
treat each other solidly like
brothers and sisters. There is
no crime on the island.
People live in harmony by

unselfishly sharing.
Ironically however the
austerity from the religion in
the society has also caused
damages and pains. Insanity
resulted by suppression of
pains has brought about some
tragedies. Hence Koh Yao is
a forbidding as well as
enchanting place that lures as
in. This creative project has
extracted the identity of
