HIGHGATE to HIGHBURY
Sunday 23rd April 2017 at 11-30am
A walk along the disused railway from Highgate to
Finsbury Park and on greenways to Highbury Fields.
Meet outside the Priory Gardens entrance of
Highgate tube station at 11-30am for a 11-45am start
We continue our exploration of disused railway lines by following the line through Crouch
End and Stroud Green to our lunch stop in Finsbury Park. We recommend a packed lunch
but there is a nearby caf. After lunch we will look at The New River and Edible
Landscapes before taking a greenway that leads to the Ecology Centre in the Gillespie Park
Nature Reserve. We then head for Olden Community Garden and Highbury Fields for our
tea stop at a charming open air caf which will be well stocked with home-made cakes and
can handle our party without pre-ordering. After tea we walk through Highbury Fields for the
finish at Highbury Corner where we can take the bus back to Highgate, Finchley or other
points north. The pace will be leisurely and there are drop out points along the way. Dont
forget to bring a bus pass or Oyster card with you and also a bottle of water.
The cost of this walk is 3-50 per person.
Distance to lunch stop - 2.1 miles. Distance to tea stop 4.4 miles.
Total distance to Finish - 4.8 miles.
