OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The Code of Criminal Procedure deals with the administration of


Criminal Law in India. It is the machinery for the investigation of crime,
arrest of suspected criminals, collection of evidences, determination of
guilt or innocence of the accused person and the punishment of the
guilty. The Code has classified the Offences under various categories:
Cognizable and non-cognizable offences
Summons case and warrant case
Bailable and non-bailable
The functionaries comprises under the code are as follows:
Magistrates and judges of the Supreme Court and High Court
Police
Public prosecutors
Defence Counsels
Correctional services personnel
With the passage of time various changes occurred within the fold of this
Course, which will be explored and study in details. The concept of plea
bargain, video conferencing, compensation and pre sentence inquiry is
also included within the premises of the study. While conducting the
course emphasis will be made on the understanding of the Concept, their
Jurisprudential value and in depth research of the same. An effort shall
also be made to include the important transnational procedure from
Common Law and Civil Law countries.
