Struggles of Being a Muslim in a Non-Muslim Country

People are very much judgmental these days specially when it comes to the religion Islam.
A lot of people happen to have a misconception about Muslims that they are terrorists and they
spread terrorism. Media plays a very strong role behind this type of misconception about
Muslims. For this reason, most of the Muslims now-a-days are facing a lot of problems, fear and
worries and challenges in their everyday lives.
First of all, those Muslims who do not live in Muslim countries face problems the most. For
example, they are often a victim of social exclusion. People dont want to socialize with them
and even dont want to be around them. People think that by being around Muslims could
possibly endanger their lives. A lot of companies wont even hire someone with proper
qualifications just because he or she is a Muslim. Airports will perform additional security
checks just because he/she is a Muslim and so might possibly be a terrorist. Such discriminations
are faced by Muslims every day in non-Muslim countries.
Secondly, a lot of Muslims have to worry about Islamophobia and racism. For example, a
family which lives in a non-Muslim country has to worry about a lot of things. When anyone of
their family members are on the street, the other members worry about his/her safe return to
home because they think that he/she might fall victim to Islamophobia. Even in a Muslim
country like Bangladesh, a lot of Muslims dont feel safe. Those who have a beard are often
considered as Jongi without any proper justification. After a person has been labelled as Jongi
it will cause serious problems in his personal, social and professional life.
Lastly, a modern Muslim faces a lot of challenges in his/her daily activities. The most
common challenge of living in a non-Muslim county would be managing time and space to pray.
Finding restaurants which serve Halal food is also a great challenge because most of their food
contains the meat of pork which is completely Haram for Muslims. Being a strict Muslim, some
are not even able to socialize with others in certain ways because of the culture of non-Muslims
which is drinking, smoking and partying. In some countries women are not even allowed to wear
Hijab and if someone does wear Hijab, she would be fined for breaking the law.
Hence we can conclude that in modern times just because of being a Muslim, people face a
lot of unnecessary trouble who live in non-Muslim countries. They are often neglected by the
people of other religion and often considered as terrorists. Islamophobia is increasing day by day
and misconceptions about the Muslims are also increasing which often leads to the Muslims
being misunderstood and mistreated.
