To build vocabulary
ACTIVITIES
Get students to look at the pictures. Elicit responses from the students by asking the following questions.
Play the Audio-Video DVD to allow students to listen and practise saying aloud the targeted vocabulary.
Pause after each picture to allow all students to internalise the targeted vocabulary.
Get students to work in pairs and design a layout / sketch of their ideal city / town / village.
Encourage students to use the pictures from the Student's Handbook to help them design their city / town / village.
Get students to move around and share with other pairs their work of art. (One Stay, One Stray)

Get all students to predict what the video is about by asking the following questions:
Play the audio-video DVD and pause at the following sentence patterns:
At every pause, teacher initiates discussion to help students be aware of the sentence patterns used.
Get students to respond or retell the situation in the video at the pauses selected which encourage the use of the
sentence patterns.
Ensure that all students participate actively. Replay and pause if necessary.

Get students to choose a story and depict the story using pictures/graphics/illustrations.
Show students some wordless storybooks or take them to the library to select a book. Encourage students to select a

Explain to students the rules of the parliamentary-style debate. Familiarise students with the roles of the debaters,
