address your audience? For my front cover, to attract and address the audience. First of all I started with the main image, a close up of my model who is wearing an EA7 puffer jacket which is known to be worn by many UK Roadmans. Who are a key part of my target audience, this is a key feature to attract and fit into the genre. We then have the model throwing west side gang signs, which once again fits with the genre but also catches attention. Followed by the large masthead, the acronym OG stands for original gangster which relates to the genre. But also it is quick and snappy, making it easy to remember. Furthermore it adds to the bold look of the magazine, similar to the main cover line. Inspired by a previous NME front cover, I came up with this cover line. Once again it is bold, but also catches your attention and gives across the right information instantly. It is followed by a quote, which gives readers an idea of what that specific article is about. This is a good way to attract the audience as they will then look forward to that article, or may be the reason as to why they buy the magazine. I also included secondary cover lines, which are a way to attract the audience with the content that is included within the magazine. Similarly I featured a list of some of the artists names, as a way to get across the type of artists featured in the magazine. But also to attract readers. For my contents page, to attract and address the audience. I started of with the main image, in which my model is wearing all black. An LA cap, and a very large chain. The chain instantly catches attention, but also suits the genre as Hip Hop is known to be very jewellery heavy. As well as many of the target audience, having an interest in jewels. The masthead is once again also featured on the contents, which creates consistency. I also included secondary images and page numbers with each one, this is a key feature to draw the readers attention/interest to a specific article. I then had a separate box, in which the cover story was exclusively presented. From which you can see how I used colour effectively, without going against the colour scheme. This was followed by the rest of the content, presented below. Finally I included social media info too, as my target audience is generally young and would therefor be interested in this information. Q7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product? To start off with, in regards to codes and conventions. I feel for my prelim magazine, first of all I didnt use the rule of thirds well which resulted in a poor layout. But the main difference between my prelim and final magazine, was when it came to stereotyping. For my prelim I didnt really stereotype at all, however when it came to my final piece I had gained much more knowledge in the use of stereotyping. Which led me to create my final pieces following and using codes and conventions, rather then going against. From the layout of the magazine, to the appearance and representation of models within the magazine. Furthermore I noticed when creating my prelim work compared to my final piece, I was able to use my time a lot more effectively and produce the work a lot quicker. This was especially with Photoshop I had become a lot more familiar, and comfortable with the software. This also helped me with the creative side of things too, as I was able to use a lot more of the features within photoshop then I could do before. However for my final piece I used a lot of other pieces for inspiration, which helped me a lot with design. Whereas with my prelim task, I didnt use any inspiration but instead came up with everything by myself using only my own ideas.
