To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Katie Schatti and I am a first grade teacher at Trantwood Elementary

School. I have had the pleasure of having Ashley Garneau as my student teacher
through the Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow program since early March.

In the short time that Ms. Garneau has been here, she has developed a great rapport
with the students. They always ask her to eat lunch with them and are eager for her to
work with them. Ms. Garneau takes initiative when she sees a need. On the very first
day she observed my class, she noticed students who needed extra help. She sat with
those students and instructed them through the activity without being asked to do so.
She is eager to learn. After her first whole group lesson, she began a discussion with
me on how she felt it went. She reflected on the lesson and was receptive to
compliments as well as critique. Ms. Garneau is motivated. She often talks about her
future plans, both college and beyond. Ms. Garneau is a team player. She was open to
collaborating on her lesson before she gave it and making adjustments as we discussed
because she was eager to meet the needs of the class.

Ms. Garneau has been a positive, welcome addition to our class. I would gladly
recommend Ms. Garneau for a teaching position in the future.

Sincerely,
Katie Schatti
